Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thank op. Hopefully they will honour this one. Last few orders on their site have been cancelled for me.

Great phone, great camera. Great bargain! Keen to pick one up myself.

(just don't break it - pain in the ass to get pixel screens repaired!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 161 ✭✭bawnBeag

How do you get this without registering?

  • Registered Users Posts: 161 ✭✭bawnBeag

    Also is it unlocked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,001 ✭✭✭KilOit

Thanks, got 1 before for €170 and many failed orders. clicked to collect instore instead so hopefully works.

Thought the vodafone website was the worst site i've ever visited but looks like boards.ie has claimed that throne now😐️

Is this the 5G edition does anyone know? Can't see anything on the VF page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,655 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

No, that's called the 4a 5g. It has a bigger screen than this one. Sells for about 300 more.

    It comes unlocked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭shatners bassoon

It's unlocked. I had loads of issues trying to get it at 179, none this time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,628 ✭✭✭barry181091

How did you get it at 179? Is there a code? EDIT: Nevermind, I realise you were talking about the last time this offer was up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,020 ✭✭✭beardo81

Just be aware from the features, this is actually a 5.8" display, not 6.5" as per the website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,020 ✭✭✭beardo81

A question from a non-Vodafone customer - do you also have to select a top-up of €20 before buying the phone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 247 ✭✭chrisire

You just select what pay as you go plan you want to use with the phone, you don't pay anything just the price of the phone

  • Registered Users Posts: 222 ✭✭bifl

Is there anything in the fine print about having to get X amount of credit or anything like that.

Don't have a Voafone store near me so would anyone have an issue gettign it posted out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭shatners bassoon

No extra costs. It's 199, unlocked. I'm using my Three sim in it now. Postage took 3 working days.

  • Registered Users Posts: 917 ✭✭✭Mr_Muffin

So I can buy this phone and stick my Three simcard in, and it'll work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭shatners bassoon

    Yep

    Thank you very much, OP!

    Bought one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,001 ✭✭✭KilOit

Still payment pending for me, ordered yesterday. Another failed order i guess

  • Registered Users Posts: 561 ✭✭✭thenightman

Not letting me order one at all now, better than last time with multiple orders I suppose!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭Del007

I had to use microsoft for it to work, it wouldn't go through for me with chrome

  • Registered Users Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Cookiee

Bought from Vodafone the pixel 4a for my mam last week and the pixel 4a 5G for my boyfriend, they both came unlocked and you don't have to pay for the simcard or top it up, took 2 days to arrive, amazing value, pixel 4a is 199€ and 5g one is €329, can't beat that value! I especially love that you don't have to pay for the simcard or top it up, I thought you might but no!

Went through for me, money taken off card, chose to collect at a store. There was an order number on the browser page, but they said I'd get a confirmation email which I haven't gotten yet. Sounds like a similar thing to when previous orders ended up failing from the VF website :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,838 ✭✭✭✭cormie

So I got the "Your online store order has been received" with the order number, but nothing about it being ready for collection from the store I selected. I chanced going in to the store anyway and the rep was asking had I not received the email saying it was ready for collection, he went back to check with the manager and came out and said it's fine, did a few bits on the computer, handed me the phone and sim and off I went.

    Thanks for the alert :)

Not sure if account specific but you can give it a go:

Switch to Ireland’s best performing mobile network and get:

     - €100 OFF Google Pixel 4A – now €159.99

     - €100 OFF Huawei P40 Lite 5G – now €149.99

     - €75 OFF Nokia 3.4 – now €64.99

If you are already a Vodafone Pay as you go customer, we have an exclusive offer for you too! Get €100 off the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G when you upgrade your device on Vodafone Pay as you go.

    New customer code : VFSV12

    Existing customer code : VFSV34

Again not sure if you need to go through the referral link from the real rewards offer, but worth to try

Try accessing the offer via the Supervalu Real Rewards page and see if a promo code box appears at the checkout:

    https://supervalu.ie/rewards/exclusive-vodafone-offer-with-real-rewards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,554 ✭✭✭CyberGhost

You have to switch the number. Then it appears.

It's €100 off from €199. I'm trying to order it now for €99. But the server is crashing it seems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭shatners bassoon

Gone through for me - great deal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,554 ✭✭✭CyberGhost

Got one too. For €99, this is an absolute steal! Amazing offer.

    VSFV12 - Thanks @darconio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,314 ✭✭✭dan786

Got it for 99 as well. Thank you.

Now just to see how long before it gets cancelled.

  • Registered Users Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Cookiee

Damn of course this 99€ offer comes up a few days after I bought a pixel 4a, oh well, still got it for 199€ which is better than the price direct from Google, I also don't want to switch networks to Vodafone so it's ok I suppose

I still can't manage to get the screen to put the code in! Can anyone explain to me or is the offer gone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 672 ✭✭✭GalwayGaillimh

Got a 4A for €99 thanks for the alert :-) tried ordering another but promo box was gone even via SuperValu....anyways got confirmation email and can see status is submitted by logging into Vodafone but sure long way to go yet before you get an actual phone as Vodafone forever cancel orders for no reason used to be like Russian roulette last year trying to get a 3A so fingers crossed ordering has improved since then...

How does the Pixel 4a compare with the Redmi Note 10 5G also at €99?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 238 ✭✭lordsheepface

How in the name of all that is awful do I subscribe to email alerts of new posts in this thread?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,226 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

Scroll to the top of the page, there's an icon on the top right beside the thread title (a star on mobile, a bookmark on desktop) that you click/tap to bookmark a thread.

Then make sure the check box under email for "Notify me when people comment on my bookmarked discussions." on https://boards.ie/profile/preferences/ is checked.

And order cancelled so ordering is still Russian roulette....

How do you know it was cancelled? I received a confirmation email. But nothing else.

  • Registered Users Posts: 149 ✭✭newincity

Do we have to actually switch to Vodafone or just select option and place an order since phone is unlocked

PS: Don't have a spare number to switch:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 290 ✭✭matzen

Bit of a problem if you're using another provider which is on the VF network. For example AnPost Mobile - it's recognised as a VF customer for some reason...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,838 ✭✭✭✭cormie

So it's saying 5G on the ad, but it's not the 5G model? And it's also saying €159.99, but it's normal price is showing as €199.99 and the offer brings it to €99.99?

Has anyone managed to put in the code since to bring it down to €99.99? Do you need an old sim card from another network to switch from, or there's a way around that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭shatners bassoon

    Cancelled for me too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,094 ✭✭✭db

Cancelled - looks like the Vodafone troll is alive and well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,791 ✭✭✭Raoul

    Vodafone are an absolute joke

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭Del007

Did ye get an email to say it was cancelled?

  • Registered Users Posts: 222 ✭✭bifl

Absoloute mess of a site. At one point the only way it would let me continue and pay was to not click on the T&C. Seriously when I clicked on T&C the Pay button greyed out 🙄 . Of course the order didn't process in the end.

So I've an old three sim and used that to switch. Selected 'Not a Vodafone Customer' then 'Keep My Number' and they send a verification text. Luckly the sim still seems to accept texts. Then later on it let me input the Promo Code which brought it from €199 to €99. So on the second attempt it's gone through this morning payment taken with a confimation mail on the order.

Let's wait and see if it get to shipping though...
