Hamilton should get a penalty of some sort for that. He's clearly not ahead of Verstappen there.

Has nobody asked Cruise and Ford's opinion on the incident? What the hell are the media at?

    Punted Max off the track.

You can't overtake that shallow on that corner while off the racing line.

Didn’t give Max enough space in the corner to get back to his racing line. Hamilton was super aggressive, and overly risky IMO.

Whatever the penalty he's still pretty much nailed on for 2nd if Mercedes can't get Bottas out of the way.

Hamilton sold Verstappen a nice little dummy just before contact though. Clever driving by Hamilton and great battle in general prior to contact.

Perez got 2 5 seconds penalties for much, much less

Nice to hear Jenson Button calling it as it is there.

I’m struggling to think of a more viciously dangerous manoeuvre in all the 30 years Ive watched F1 than taking someone out at copse like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 340 ✭✭Zookey123

HAHAHA. So racings not allowed in F1 anymore? Its a fight for the championship and honestly best action I have seen all year. Its a shame how it ended and I am guessing Lewis gets a time penalty but DQ lol.

Has to be a penalty. Hamilton was never in the leading position.

It was his fault. More viciously dangerous in 30 years ffs when drivers have actually intentionally taken other drivers out in that timeframe.

    The dramatics here is unbelievable.

It’s under investigation. And according to sky Christian Horner is talking to race director and not surprisingly is defending his driver.

What’s the craic with Horner and the race director conversation? Is that meant to happen?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭quokula

Yeah it did, not quite as fast or dangerous as Copse but very similar driving from Senna, those cars were a lot less safe in those days of course. Without the Halo that tyre would have killed Max.

Perez got 2 x 5 second penalties and Lando got 1 x 5 second penalty.

Neither put a rival in the wall at top speed.

Hamiltons front left hit Max right rear

Very surprised to see the cheer that went up when Verstappen crashed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Ah here they still haven't moved the bloody car

Webber making pathetic excuses for Hamiltons disgraceful behaviour, he’s so biased.

if Verstappen did that to Hamilton I can only imagine the reaction from Webber.

There should be no doubt in anyones mind that's a penalty

Sky saying there could be a battery issue, as in the car might be live.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,908 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

well we know that the heads of teams talk to the race director so yes it’s meant to happen.

I was wondering why Ham didn't put. Obviously knew it was going to be a red flag, and he would've been in last place for the restart, so wait for the red flag and fix the car when in second place.

Some pressure on the race directors to decide what to do with Hamilton here, racing incident or dangerous driving? He was never in the lead going into the corner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,686 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Yes of course. All teams have a direct line to the race director.

    Is Webber blind?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,940 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

People suggesting this is anything other than a bad overtaking attempt are talking crap, no way it was a deliberate attempt to take him out. Just a racing move, a bad one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,868 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

I'm no Hamilton fan, but to call him a cheater is a but much. I highly doubt Hamilton went out to take Max out and risk his own race in doing so. To me it was 2 drivers racing all out

In saying that, Max left Hamilton more than enough room and Hamilton didn't look like he was making the apex. Hamilton at fault yes, but hardly a cheater.
