I was wondering why Ham didn't put. Obviously knew it was going to be a red flag, and he would've been in last place for the restart, so wait for the red flag and fix the car when in second place.

Some pressure on the race directors to decide what to do with Hamilton here, racing incident or dangerous driving? He was never in the lead going into the corner.

Yes of course. All teams have a direct line to the race director.

    Is Webber blind?

People suggesting this is anything other than a bad overtaking attempt are talking crap, no way it was a deliberate attempt to take him out. Just a racing move, a bad one

I'm no Hamilton fan, but to call him a cheater is a but much. I highly doubt Hamilton went out to take Max out and risk his own race in doing so. To me it was 2 drivers racing all out

In saying that, Max left Hamilton more than enough room and Hamilton didn't look like he was making the apex. Hamilton at fault yes, but hardly a cheater.

I really like that we can hear the fia radio

Was partly sarcastic. And on more replays I would like to retract my "racing incident" comment. :pac:

Based on previous 5 and 10 second penalties this was worse. We see tiny tips get 10 second penalties. This has to at least be drive-through. Remove Max from the incident and Hamilton is never making the corner with that line at anything close to full speed.

Christian has said the same on Channel 4 as well.

Anyway the car is being lifted out with the JCB. The look of Max's car after the incident is quite horrendous though.

They can’t just take the car unless it’s safe to do so. The batteries and various pieces make it potentially very dangerous

Max left room, but Hamilton went too wide, nowhere near the apex. The red flag gives Lewis a bonus of a free car fix.

Lewis has to get a penalty

Yes, but us hearing it..Wasn’t sure on that

Max turned in abit on Hamilton looking at Karun Chandock going through it on Sky

Both drivers probably expected the other to pull out

Well good to hear Jenson button in general. Comes across as a sound lad.

Listen to these FIA Radios, are these new? Never heard them before?

Interesting point from Button about Hamilton not having hit the apex of the corner. Hamiltons onboard though, looks like Verstappen turns in a little bit sharply?

    Excellent SLO mo analysis..

    Racing incident for me.

Max had the racing line and left Lewis space. Lewis had to back out if he can't get by up the inside. At that speed it was not on. Never in a million years.

He was never even fully alongside. Never mind ahead.

100% on Lewis and the penalty had to be an actual penalty. None of this 5 seconds BS

Awful maneuver by Hamilton. Shockingly poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,967 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Yeah and if they aren’t sure then they should not touch it. They are moving it now.

It's not deliberate contact from Hamilton but it is reckless/dangerous from him. 10 second stop go penalty maybe once the race restarts.

With the budget cap, this will have severe repercussions for Red Bull for the rest of the season as that car is destroyed. This may be the moment that decides the championship.

Well he was turning for the corner to start with, then adjusted slightly left to ensure Lewis had room.

I’m watching on C4 but did he turn in on Hamilton or did Hamilton under steer? I think law of averages has to be the latter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,967 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

The only difference this year is that we the fans get to hear them which IMO is a good thing.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

That overhead shot is clear as day to me. Hamilton is never making that apex.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,428 ✭✭✭jammiedodgers

Never ceases to amaze me how mangled the cars can get and drivers are able to walk away from it albeit a bit shook.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,837 ✭✭✭quokula

Looking at that replay, Max left plenty of space and Hamilton didn’t even try to make the apex. Absolutely disgusting behaviour, he could have killed Max.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,272 ✭✭✭kirving

Hamilton forcing a rival off track?! No way!

He's been at the same craic for 10 years, very cynical driving.

Toto sending an email of a picture of where the cars should be based on the rules.
