For an extra €400 "depending on bargaining"
You would have the new model
What do you want to spend

The rear of the one you just linked has damage on the rear.. It would be a handy run around

    as less as possible lol,

it's just for a second car

but I see your point about the newer model and a year fresher as well

That's mad that's the second tax disc I have seen stamped in one week despite never having one done to my own despite driving 20 years. I was going to say I never seen one stamped before but after seeing 2 in a week it must be more common than I thought and may have seen one before but just cannot remember.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Tomjim

I don't understand why is it stamped?

I asked on here a couple of days ago which was a car for sale that was stamped also on Donedeal and nobody answered but someone did say they may have lost the original. But I'm not sure if that is the correct answer.

Second time I've given this a bump - the ad is still listed on DD (price further reduced?) And no - I am not the person selling it!

Anyway, I really like it. The 06 bangernomics Celica has been, and continues to be, utterly faultless. That being said, I wouldn't mind a change and I love well proportioned estate cars. Should I be worried that this hasn't already sold? And would I be mad going from a car that barely requires any maintenance to one that isn't exactly famed for reliability.

Yes it would most likely be a replacement for a list or stolen one.

    Absolutely.

There are plenty of things you can check that are not technical that indicate you might have a good car (Has it got an NCT, evidence of service history, obvious damage etc) but at bangernomics level, there could be any number of hidden gremlins.

A mechanic will know exactly what to look for and a good one will know what common problems to look for specific to that model of car.

What is the junction type box located below the glovebox towards the centre console? There are also holes to the left of the centre console. PSV meter perhaps or maybe a handsfree kit?

You will be paying that sort of motor tax for that size engine on anything pre 2008.

I'm getting to grips with it slowly, the touch site is tough going the desktop version is much easier to handle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,740 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

New touch layout is driving people away. It really is awful.

    And back to bangers!

    I need some advice please,

It looks like I may need a banger for commuting fairly shortly, 120km round trip, 90% motorway.

It must be cheap to run, reasonable to insure and on the newer tax rate, and not be a awful place to be for my commute.

I have only owned German cars in the past, and I am partial to an estate.

Has anyone any suggestions for what might be ideal? Or know of a car that would suit?

Ideally I’d be interested in an Octavia combi, does anyone that has experience running one of these want to share what they were like?

    Thanks.
