This fella posting about ggmachines (which won't come up on Google for me so could be dodgey out) is doing a reckless amount of promoting of them, so watch out people, quite possibly a scam

It looks fairly legit to me. Relatively new business by the looks of it.

Apart from the obvious spam on the forum I also actually got a random private message promoting GG Machines as well.

Got my RTX 3080 FE delivered today.

Had to use a friend to contact someone high up on the chain to get sorted.

Now to not touch this machine for 3-5 years.

Did you get it from Scan or the EU?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,969 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Scan; came out to €820 with shipping & Irish import taxes (no UK VAT)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,569 ✭✭✭Cordell

Not too bad. Import taxes include Irish VAT?

Yes, they didn't charge me UK VAT on the invoice, so had to pay DHL before delivery could complete.

1 HDD, 2 sata SSD, & 2 M2 SSDs - I guess you'll be using most of those modular cables on the psu then..

Are Scan still not offering Irish customers founder edition cards/delivering to us?

Still haven't found the time to rebuild and commission my 5900x/RTX3090 PCSpecialist build nor do any of my desk re-config and RGB plans......nor build the brothers VRPC with my spare parts...nor build my media server nor build a different brothers media server. All parts in hand for 2 months now. Room is a mess with PC components and unopened PC component boxes. FML. No time and no energy. I sometimes think a caught Covid asymptomatically and have long Covid Fatigue!! LOL.

Anyway, I thought I had missed the boat by not getting around to selling my spare GTX1080 and RTX2060 months ago because I thought I heard things were getting back to normal in GPU land. Jaysus. They haven't improved that much and it looks like RTX2060's and GTX1080's are still fetching €450 on Adverts.ie.

I've decided that if I can still achieve that I'll deffo sell the RTX2060 (instead of putting it in Bro's VRPC with the 6700K) along with my old GTX1080 and surprise my brother with something like a 3060ti rather than pocketing the extra cash myself.

So where should I be looking for a 3060ti and what price should I expect to pay. Should I be looking for the Mining limited versions etc etc. What I mean for example is, should I be paying €776 for an 'In Stock' Zotac 3060ti from Caseking.de or should I be looking in less well known places or putting my name down on eVGA or pre-ordering in someplace that is getting regular stock drops and selling for closer to MSRP??

Maybe it's just me but I find it funny when people look for advice on getting the best deal for a new gpu and concurrently look to get the best overpriced resell value on their current gpu. Basically giving and taking with the same pool of people

Yup, selling my 2070 Super to a friend for 400eur.

I know I could get 550+ on the open market but I'd rather someone else get to play games than the GPU be used for mining.

I appreciate you might not be able to help anyone else, but could I ask how this was sorted?

I managed to grab a 3080FE from Scan myself, after chat support told me they'd ship FEs to Ireland. However, depending on the person I talked, the answer was different. In the end, I had to cancel my order because I had a 3080FE waiting to be "collected from the store" in the UK...

There's a bunch of ASUS RTX 3060TIs being sold directly by Amazon germany for €835 (when adjusted for Irish VAT & delivery)

Still feels like scalper pricing to me...

I contacted Nvidia directly and they put me through to SCAN.

SCAN then contacted me and set up the invoice without VAT.

Finally I paid import duties to DHL once the shipment arrived in Ireland.

K.O.Kiki, I just wanted to ask a few questions:

I presume you contacted Nvidia after you snagged a 3080fe on scan with a drop?

What did you put as the delivery address or did you just leave it as collect in store?

How much were the import duties, was it just the Irish V.A.T and DHL's handling fees or did you have to pay any other taxes?

    No I contacted Nvidia first.

They set me up with a rep at SCAN.

Fees were set up by DHL, I just paid it assuming it's import fees (24%)

Almost pulled the trigger on a 3080ti today. Looked okay in sterling but it translated into €1700+ and I lost my bottle :pac:

Think I'll forget about building a new PC this year and check the situation again in 6 months time.

I will wait for 4xxx series...

Thanks for clarifying - so this was not during one of those random Scan drops? You contacted NVidia, and Scan got back to you when they had stock?

Any chance you please could let us know how you contacted NVidia? I tried the "contact us" option at NVidia UK but they never got back to me

What's the best sited to get a GPU now with brexit ? I seen a few people still manage to get from scan and deduct uk vat . Is this possible ? Or should I buy from Germany and if so how do I avoid there new vat charges . Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 878 ✭✭✭Luck100

What card are you looking for? Scan stock and prices look pretty bad. I bought a 3080 Ti couple of weeks ago from Germany (notebooksbilliger). They definitely had the best prices at the time. They don't ship outside Germany, but I used mailboxde to reship the package to Ireland. No extra VAT charged.

Thanks.I'd like to get the ASUS TUF 3080 or maybe 3090 but not sure. I know GPUs are crazy money now but I've been saving for my pc for years. I'm quite new to pcs overall and never built one so could go pre built even but not to sure. If I decide to build it myself seems like it will be a headache to get the parts and not be charged vat or import duty 🤔. Would my best bet be Europe then for parts? I seen ordering from Germany charges 19% German vat and then irish once it arrives but maybe by using a German postal address you avoid avoid fees

Managed to nab a 3080Ti from Amazon at not much over RRP (a GigaByte while/silver one, for a white build so was delighted.) Paid for it, was despatched by Amazon, was to be delivered by Amazon too so I thought I was home free. Queue a "delay due to external factors" when it arrived in the Dublin delivery depot....and boom, lost. Some pos got themselves a nice card, and I got a refund. Fook it anyway.

No that's not how it works. That's only the case with buying from Britain as they're not part of the EU.

German sellers who sell to Ireland are meant to charge Irish rate of VAT at checkout, 23%. If you buy it and ship it to a mailbox address and then ship that to here, you'll be charged 19% VAT as they assume they are selling to a German customer. There will then be no VAT or customs charged on import to Ireland as we're both in the EU
