Antigen testing mentioned almost to the boredom...

Pat could skip almost there... :D

    Pat destroying this bloke.

In all fairness easily done, Donnelly is dangerously full of it.

he really is giving him an awful grilling.

    Christ Donnelly is really hopeless.

No answers to anything. Just word salad

Completely embarrassing at this stage. One of the biggest take downs I ever heard.

Think a lot of posters would just say Donnelly was doing terribly because they don't like him. There's nothing particularly wrong about this interview but I imagine many people had their comments drafted already so posted them anyway.

which particular comments did not apply to the interview ?

What parts were not 'particularly wrong' ?

Stephen Donnelly reminded me of Boris Johnson, everything is wonderful, we are the best in the world, look how good we are doing, while ignoring and side stepping the realities of the situation.

The realities of the situation are what? I've read here that what was presented by government yesterday as some sort of catastrophe, but really is it? No one is going to starve if they can't sit inside a pub or restaurant tbh.

I’m not a fan of the guy but he gives answers. They might be rambling and full of pointless analogies but he gives them.

The interview was a very tough one. Pat was going hard on him but, to be fair, Donnelly stuck it out. People can complain about waffling but if it had been Coveney on he would have provided Pat with a history of antigen testing to eat up some minutes.

    They’re all at it.

But, but if "I" can't go inside a pub or restaurant no one else should be able to (sob, sob).

Ugh, the 100,000th book about how terrible Ireland was in the 50s/60s/70s its all been done before, completely bored hearing about this subject.

Do they really need to be spelled out to you at this stage? There are far more issues than being able to sit inside a pub, but if you haven't being keeping up, I'm hardly going to list them out for you now.

Would you stop with this nonsense. It's not about going into restaurant, it's about wanting for life to start getting back to normal. Response we got is that either NPHET or government or whoever is running the country is not even willing to try.

We had to endure the most draconian lockdown in Europe, 3 months not allowed to travel more than 5km, hospitality sector closed, young people ignored, building of needed houses stopped and after all that sacrifice we are told sorry you can't do what everyone else in Europe can and we are not willing to try different things to make it work. People did their bit now it's up to those who run the country to stick their neck out and just copy what those more successful and efficient than us did.

I agree with the texter earlier who said older people who are now double vaxxed but who were stuck in and nobody really cared too much about it should be allowed to go to indoor hospitality , don't know why you or anyone has a problem with it!

The only change announced yesterday was a pause on the return of indoor hospitality. That's all. Had they proceeded with indoor hospitality anyway, everything else, all those other problems, would've remained the exact same.

The hysterical reaction to yesterday's announcement is quite baffling. Then again we are entering silly season.

Because there is no indoor dining. There is maybe something in the middle of the month or possibly in October.

You know quite well I mean that it should be opened to people who are fully vaccinated only, loads of people on here don't want that.

BTW I'm in favour of the delay to reopening, given the other issues which they seem to be unable to get a grip on. Such as vaccinations, antigen testing etc. NPHET afaik are a committee of 40, while NIAC have 30. When did a committee of these sizes serve any useful purpose except to diffuse responsibility and accountability from politicians?

Pat Kenny put that point to minister Donnelly, 'what's so dumb about the Irish that we can't just copy what's been done in the rest of Europe '.

Answer from the minister ' the hospitality industry said "No" '.

What kind of business says No when given the opportunity to reopen.

The hospitality industry are being badly led by Cummins and Co and I look forward to Pat asking the industry leaders the same question he put to the minister.

This is what I find truly bizarre, over 500,000 are fully vaccinated but business representatives saying that individual businesses don't want their money, that they would rather be shut indoors, they don't want to provide employment or make money by opening indoors to fully vaccinated people only, the mind truly boggles?

They just want to open as normal.

They don't accept the projections of doom.

Pat straight into antigen testing this morning , explaining to us how he knows more about it than anyone else

While I know he is like a broken record about antigen, I'd rather his stance on them than the CMO's.

true, but it's funny how he is explaining it to the expert he has on.

still don't think he has the grasp on the whole thing that he thinks he has

I think it is more of a challenge to the CMO's "party line" on testing, rather than an explanation to the expert.

He's an insufferable know-it-all show-off about it, and is definitely missing a few of the finer nuances in his sledgehammering every single bloody day :(

That's a bit harsh. Some are of the opinion that he is providing an important public function, in challenging the group think that appears to dominate this issue.

Weird, you reckon most businesses want unvaccinated people in their places potentially posing a threat to them or their staff, instead of the soon to be majority of vaccinated people of all ages, I find that hard to believe?
