Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

One that might have been easier to predict before the crashes on stage 3, we should see the yellow jersey changing hands regardless.

    The course description is interesting...
A nearly circular, lumpy course with no classified climbs but plenty of false flats and grinding ascents.

Another interesting comment on CN, I don't know their source but this would seem to be a huge expected loss for a quality TT'er like Roglic.
Jumbo-Visma were rumoured on Tuesday morning to be expecting Primož Roglič to lose around 90 seconds to Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates). That was notwithstanding Roglič’s crashes and injuries.

    Odds from Bet365
    Wout Van Aert 13/8
    Stefan Bissegger 10/3
    Stefan Kung 4/1
    Kasper Asgreen 7/1
    Soren Kragh Andersen 16/1
    Primoz Roglic 18/1
    Tadej Pogacar 18/1
    Mikkel Bjerg 22/1
    Geraint Thomas 25/1
    Julian Alaphilippe 25/1

14 / 15 90 degree + turns at least from the course map. Hard to tell how much impact they will have without looking at the actual roads & how wide they are. Wonder will anyone do a Remi Cavanga on it.

Interesting with all those turns that CN don't think it's too technical.
The mid-week course is reported to be not overly technical and is mainly run on wide roads

Strange comments from CN alright. Even with Rog's injuries it's difficult to see him losing that amount of time to Pog.

Sounds like bluffing from JV re Rog. But with his injuries its all a bit of an unknown now I suppose.

I have Bisseger Kung and Asscream in my fantasy team- but they will all have to go hard to beat Wout! I have had a sense of anticipation about this stage for a while, and with many twists and turns I'm hoping nothing crazy happens. Froome might still be having nightmares about 90 degree turns with walls. And I would love to see the therapeutic exemption list of painkillers for today--- half the peloton are holding the tuck with road rash, separated shoulders and dodgy wrists...

Just watching Tony Martin finish here, the last 500m are bendy as hell

Word is VdP is gonna go all out to try keep yellow something to do with buying specialist wheels and a 10 hour overnight drive to get them to him.
Don't know much about his TT skills and how possible it is though but we have certainly seen him put in strong long solo rides

Good to see the Start and finish are nice and close to a Decathlon. Handy if they need a few tubes, socks or cheap bidons.

Big crowds out there today. Great to see (obviously as long as their signs aren't too big).

Shockingly only 23s back at the first time check, 3s behind Bjerg

Carlton talking about shaving the front of the leg and leaving hair on the back to reduce aerodynamic turbulence.

The leg mullet springs to mind - business in the front, party in the back.

    Kung is absolutely monstering this

Subject to potential fine of €1,500 for unintentionally causing injury they said earlier.

Roglic is putting in a good TT

Doubled down on their stupidity by not sticking around to face the music. I would have some respect for them if they did.

They over exaggerated the time roglic would lose

True. Unless Pog absolutely blows Kung's time out of the water.

Wait to see what Pog does...they were saying they expected him to be 90s ahead of him? Cant see it being that much.
Roglic putting time into Thomas though

I'd like to see Kung hold on for the stage here, just checking he's not had a tour stage win. One of those lads it feels like he's been around forever now but he's still only 27.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 557 ✭✭✭MangleBadger

I would be surprised if anybody beats Kung's time besides possibly WVA.
So Rog is probably safe from Pog taking too much time from him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,508 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

The little map graphic on the tour website indicates that Pog is flying, he's going to catch Mas ahead of him

EDIT: 10s up at the 1st checkpoint!

I may have spoke too soon. 10 seconds up after the first time check.
50:50 he either smashes it or blows up.

    Carapaz well off the pace

    Kung's reaction!

Roglic lost 44 seconds to Pogacar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 557 ✭✭✭MangleBadger

I did not think Pog would be so strong on a flat TT. I will now stop making any of my thoughts known.

TBH, I actually think Roglics's performance was very good for a man whose arse is held together with duct tape.

He was within seconds if WVA and Tom Dumoulin on the flat first section of last years TT and blew them away on the hill. The lad is a complete beast

Pog looking ominous now. He's well able to climb too! And has another TT to look forward to when they finish up in the mountains.

He beat Kung by 19" pretty cruel on Kung he probably thought he had it after the Rog time

I would expect MvdP to fade now in the last couple of km so probably Pog in yellow.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,715 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

Only one that will come close to pog is rog, was before the tour started and hasn't changed.
Some ride from MVDP again too delighted for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 557 ✭✭✭MangleBadger

Fair play to MVDP for that effort.

Pog willing MvdP on there I'd say so as not to get the jersey.

Yes incredible. Does make me wonder what value there really is in being a TT specialist.

MVDP more than justified the cost of the wheels :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 673 ✭✭✭Morris Garren

Brilliant ride from MvdP - glad to see him keep the jersey.
Pogacar was 3rd in the Slovenian TT champs?

Some big engines in Slovenia these days...

I'd say that was more a matter of peaking at the right time.

He's unstoppable now I think. Barring a crash. It's a pity he's ahead of the other GC guys now. I really loved him attacking last year to take back the time he'd lost in the cross winds bit by bit.

The only saving grace is that he doesn't have a train like Ineos to sit behind in the mountains. They'll try to grind him down, but i honestly think he's too good.

I just hope it's in some way close going into the Pyrenees.

Hopefully plenty of others attack him and don't sit in for a podium.

Great to see Ineos beat so comprehensively in a TT. Ineeded that after yesterday
