If it ends up being 7 weeks delayed say that's mid August, 1/2 wks later schools reopening, I can't see them opening then either as they will say numbers will rise just before schools reopening. If it is delayed 7 wks I can see it being delayed into mid September.

Where exactly are they getting these deaths from?

Would like to know that myself, along with hospitals hitting near peak of January, no idea how they arrive at that outcome

Bet you its going to be after the August BH weekend

That makes no scientific sense. The vulnerable are vaccinated, who exactly is going to die?

Ah ya know Tony likes to keep a few deaths in his back pocket that he can produce when it looks like his power trip might becoming to an end.

    That's unfair.

This is a load of bollocks, lads I can't take it anymore.

Where is the evidence of this from the UK, which is currently ravaged with the same variant?
Fatalities and hospitalisations will approach, but not meet, the chaos and harrowing caseload seen in January, ministers are warned.

This is pure and utter BS.

Tony Holohan and the team at NPHET should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, decimating businesses at the peak of summer.

    Said letter.

No idea how they come up with some of it

Essentially what NPHET are saying the vaccines don't work.

So why would anyone bother taking it then? It doesn't guarantee you your freedoms. They could come out with this **** again in a few months.

Meanwhile, the rest of Europe, Northern Ireland and the UK are...Well you know yourselves.

That's actually scary how they've 'modelled' that, to be honest. Mindboggling.

    This is disgusting

Surely somebody in government will stand up to this

    Not really...

Anyone with any sense knows what Holohan and the rest of them are like.

What's scary is that they're unelected, in a democracy and they're running and ruining people's lives, whilst the elected stand by and do nothing.

Strange language from them, could mean anything. There'll always be a "peak of deaths", whether there's 5 or 5000.

I'd ike to goback tomorrow office a day or two a week, when might that happen now?

NPHET should be disbanded and Tony Holohan removed. They've lost all objectivity.

The Mirror are reporting that ministers are discussing ways to open indoor dining.
"The proposal, which will also be discussed at Tuesday morning's crunch Cabinet meeting, would see extra restrictions introduced for indoor dining.

This would include less customer capacity and tables further apart indoors."

Yeah eamon Ryan and Simon coveney should start tearing strips off NPHET.

And yes the government should be more assertive but I’ve heard pearse Doherty follow the line of “not wanting to compromise the re opening so far” which isn’t any different to FF/FG/greens.

NPHET have got to go! That letter is borderline insanity.

They're saying we're going to have a "peak of deaths" at a stage when pretty much all the vulnerable are vaccinated? Like it just doesn't make any sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,072 ✭✭✭prunudo

In one sense its a self fulfilling prophecy, numbers will go up. Because people will just say **** the government advice and are just going to contuine meeting up like they have been doing for months, whether it will be in house parties, bbq's, play dates whatever.
Whether they get to 1000's of cases a day remains to be seen, looking at UK at present, I don't see it being an issue

    We are all fully vaccinated

    I'm actually upset tbh

The idea that the next 2 weeks will save a January-like peak in hospitalizations and deaths is the stupidest thing I have ever heard this year.

Less customer capacity is pointless as pubs have been closed for the well over a year and need to make money so having less than full capacity isn't a runner.

So you would have disclose your medical records to dine in a restaurant? That is a nightmare scenario

Well, no, you can wait a few more weeks when it opens up to everyone and eat in a restaurant without telling anyone anything. Until then you can eat at home.
