Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone have an idea of the value per ton of scrap metal these days?

Ballpark 180-190 a ton for iron, about 2k a ton for copper, but that was a month ago so might have changed since.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Local place is giving €1300 a ton for alloy wheels.
Tyre, valve and weights need to be off them.
Cleared out about 18 of them last week and it came to almost €200...

    180 a ton for steel

2k a ton for copper is way off, copper paying 6k a ton with the last few months

Where you based op, different areas will be different prices

Steel to hit 1500 a ton? That's a very bold statement

Edit. I realise now you meant new steel, doh to me

Btw, what makes you think scrap will hit 400 a ton?

Its not at 1500 a ton yet but was told by suppliers that that will be the price by September . Scrap was 25% of the price of new a while back. China is swallowing up all steel at the moment

We will see manhole covers and anything steel not nailed down disappearing again.

Already happened both sides of m7 between Borrisonossary and Birdhill. All the drain covers lifted over two nights around Easter.

Thats my biggest fear and my reason for getting rid of a pile I have lying here as I had unwanted visitors last weekend inquiring about it.
