I see the Brexit cheerleading has begun in earnest already. Andrew Neil is disingenuously misleading his viewers into thinking that a UK Australia trade deal is already done- it is nothing of the sort and all they are at is the memorandum of understanding stage. Yet he is declaring victory and everything is sunny despite this trade deal being worth a palty 0.02% of GDP. He also manages to throw the legitimate concerns of farmers competing with cheap hormone fed Australian beef, sure what do they matter when Brits can get cheaper Australian wine

That's basically propaganda and lies. Easily debunked but I suppose the target audience has no interest in such things.

Free advertising for the Tories and ultimately sunak in his PM bid.

Aren't you meant to question your politicians rather than platform them .

Also the same can be said for quite literally consumption of any material though.....

Take the whole Corona pandemic, if your news window was RTE, BBC News, RTE Radio, beyond the basic facts, Im guessing the vast majority of editorialising was in one direction in terms of the necessity of long lockdowns especially this year.

Ya know a lot of that bondholder money was to and for the UK yeah? The only ones who wouldn't discount, or let it be paid off early. The only one's who have tried to destabilise the north over the past 5 years.

I think most normal thinking people know where our bread is buttered, and I don't include Herman Kelly & Gemma O'd in that category.

The majority of the bonds held by Irish banks were held by continental banks.
Where is our bread buttered? By the EU? How so? I would say our bread is buttered through the everyday business done with our largest trading partner by a country mile. The EU has funded some infrastructure projects (indirectly funded by the net payer to the EU budget, the UK).

I think we just want to be seen as different from the Brits. And ignore all the logical arguments for Brexit and instead attribute it to nationalism and xenophobia.

Still waiting on logical arguments 6 years later.
.perhaps this new poster can elaborate what no one else can. There's a thread in politics that is waiting for your keen insight.

we aren't talking about the US and or Belgium here why are you bringing them into it?

There never were any logical arguments for brexit, but if you claim to have some - I suggest you go to the brexit discussion threads and lay them all out on the table for all to see.

I didn't begin following Politics until years after I'd left Ireland but this reads like the usual Irexit Freedom nonsense. I'm surprised you've not mentioned the Lisbon Treaty.

I did. It's the Brexiters who keep banging on and on about it. Now they even have almost a whole new TV channel for it.

I think boycotts happen on both sides of the politicial spectrum.

Indeed they have, but people are hypocrites and refuse to accept that they themselves are guitly of what they're accusing the other side of.......case in point below
Can anyone imagine a new media organisation with a leftwing liberal slant being set up and conservative people lobbying companies not to advertise with them? I can only attribute such a campaign to fear.
Close but not quite the same

Only because you've been caught out and can't admit it. Conservatives in America have long been boycotting everything they disagree with. They boycotted Nike, Amazon, the MLB, the NFL, Walmart and about 15 different films in the last decade alone. What happened to Colin Kaepernick? The Dixie Chicks? The Hallmark Channel?

Oh, it's only an issue when the boycott is against something you disagree with then.....carry on.

The main host on GB news himself said he's banning any mention of Harry and Meghan. Is that not cancel culture at play?

Em... This is an Irish website and I'm interested in Politics and Current Affairs. I'm not going to cease discussing these things because conservatives see dissent as attack.

Dissent? In an Irish website context, being pro brexit is the dissenters position surely?

Can't - so long as people continue to sprout misinformation like this in order to try and bring folk around to a pro-irexit stance. Worked because it went unchecked for years in the UK but it's not going to happen here.

No i get it. The real truth is found on YouTube and Facebook live feeds by non qualified individuals with many opinions on lots of new hot culture war topics.

Everyone else is just confirming to the man, dude.

The right wing is the new hippies of the 60s except with different goals and the same belief system.

Actually, something has just dawned on me. The people defending this sh1tshow of a station are purely doing so, from what I can see, out of blind loyalty to the 'brand' of right wing politics/conservatism.

They don't care what it's like or how good it actually is, it's on their side and representing a view which is, in their mind, criminally under-represented in the mainstream.

Which is all fine, you can defend that point all you wish. But you must accept, it removes any right for you to ever complain about niche minorities calling for inclusion in all walks of life, ever again.

Conservative fans of this station are the equivalent of the lefties who were fans of the Ghostbusters remake. Clappy little sealions, delighted to see something to which they can relate, but who are too close to recognise it for the piece of rubbish it actually is. Yeah, it's a nice idea but if the content isn't good enough then it will be relegated to the realm of obscurity quicker than you can say "there is no Dana, only Zuul".

It's the remainers and their supporters who won't let it go. The Guardian, BBC and Labour party still ranting about it years later.

That's gas because I mean it's the Tories who won't work the deal they signed up to for Brexit and NI.

None of the people you mentioned have any power in that regard.

Well - To be fair both sides are at it.

Remainers are asking "What's this all about , when are we actually going to see something meaningful and tangible from all this?"

Brexiteers keep touting stuff they already had (or could have had) as being some kind of magical "Brexit Bonus" and get pissy when challenged to show the evidence.

Brexit is far from done and as such is fair game for discussion - Yes , they've jumped out of the EU plane , but no one is quite sure if they've opened the parachute yet (or if they're even wearing one) and they certainly haven't stuck the landing yet.

    Oh, I forgot about them.

But that was in the long-long ago when the US Conservatives desired a good bombing of the Ay-Rabs for nothing to clear the air after Sept. 11th and anyone doubting wisdom of the policy was Evil & a Friend of Saddam!

Since the Donald showed them the true way (and of course after the opponents of the war were proved correct eventually) they have cooled on Iraq + any other ME wars and pretend they were never so gung ho for it at all!

The remainers haven't had to get themselves new safe spaces like Parler and GB News. The Guardian, BBC and Labour stopped reporting on it a long time ago beyond stuff like trade deals and such.
