Can anyone imagine a new media organisation with a leftwing liberal slant being set up and conservative people lobbying companies not to advertise with them? I can only attribute such a campaign to fear.
Actually the whole take a knee thing ...conservatives tried to get people and companies to boycott the NFL.

I got some shock when they voted to leave the EU, I got some shock when I met people from Britain who voted to leave...but I was spectacularly misinformed.

    So were they. Spectacularly.

By ignorant illiterate yobs and xenophobes, as is now becoming starkly apparent.

Their vote has ended Britain. Literally rent it apart at a thousand different seams. It's the most incredible act of national self harm in modern history.

But you love to see it.

Trump tried and failed to organize a boycott against Goodyear last year. He had a bad year.

I think that's a ukism thats been around an age. If you are offended on behalf of those UK folks then your entitled to be offended.

Maybe your looking for names on twitter to be offended about ? Perhaps ?

There is a bang of Snobbery of it though. It didn't maybe start out as that but it's certainly where it is now.

Centre left people should have the courage to call out the idiots on their side. Bill Maher for example in the US seems to do a good job of showing that his brain isnt just a conduit for the lulas he must be coming across every day

No i mean i don't see what is so wrong in the land of the free on someone kneeling respectfully peacefully and quietly during a national anthem to protest police violence.

You would swear they were burning the flag or something.

Snobbery ? Buddy it's a UK name and directed alot at the richest of rich over there. Half the government is made up of elite educated colleges.

    Snobbery ?

Selective revisionism of the present is what that is. Anyone harping about being marginalised from a million pound house in london whilst presenting on lbc and having multiple opinion columns.

The whole thing including this gbnews channel is a big game of snake oil sales. Make buck off telling people about they are being cancelled out.

Gas times I tell you .

I’d bet both my bollocks that they and everyone here that uses it doesn’t actually know what it means. It’s just a buzzword that’s thrown around by conservatives to dismiss other opinions.

And they have the audacity to moan about free speech.

Same dopes banging on about those boycotting advertisers. So what? People don’t want to use brands associated with GB News. Are they not entitled to that freedom?

I personally wouldn’t boycott a brand that is associated with GB News but at the same time I couldn’t care less if anyone else did.

Have you watched it for an entire day then?

Or are you appealing to the communal opinion of the Left who have probably never watched more than 5-minutes of it.

Maybe you missed Andrew Neil's interview with the Chancellor last night.

What part of the Woke catalogue did that belong to?

The NFL would never have been boycott. That's hilarious.

Well, when a narrative is presented in good faith I don't usually ask for proof that often but when it's some variant of rightwingers pretending to be victims then that needs serious backing up IMO as it's the most absurd bad faith narrative currently doing the rounds.

I'd say if I asked for proof that Brexit voters were presented as illiterate, you'd at best respond with a cherrypicked tweet which would of course just prove my point.

As an aside, where are you getting the illiterate thing from? Is it not enough to throw the same old trope out or did you fancy adding something new?

We all remember the narrative, we don't need concrete evidence of such....you are just asking for something that is impossible to provide, you know this, but it's your attempt to undermine the poster....when the poster provides you with an example you dismiss it.

    It's a cheap shot.

If you are looking for proof of how Brexiteers were presented you need look no further than this thread....there are still people who believe that the Brits who voted to leave were either conned into it or they are racist xenophobes...

I suspect it is one of the reasons that this new channel was conceived...never before in my lifetime have the political and media class been so out of tune with ordinary people.

    But it's not.

Here is one of 1000s of possible examples.
Goldsmiths University has bowed to pressure from its student union to incorporate ‘racial trauma’ as a reason to defer essays and exams for Black and PoC students.

Evidence will be submitted through self-certification.

And there is nothing rebellious about pointing out how hysterically and comically stupid this stuff becomes. That's when it isn't actively dangerous to the development of students, of course.

Ahhh, i can feel a bad bout of racial trauma coming on!! Won't be handing in my essay this week, Prof!

You said farage is marginalised and was never given air time on the BBC. It's easy to despute that .

Your next phrase was ... Well he was on panels with lefty's and they always shouted him down.

You were asked for evidence of your claim and provided one video edit.

Even you have to agree that your claim was not factual and one edited video doesn't warrant making it.

I've lived here for over a decade now. I know what the narrative is and repeating the same fantasy over and over again doesn't make it any more true.

I'm not going to do your research for you and I don't know how much proof there will be of the treatment of Brexit voters in 2016 on a thread on an Irish website that's been made almost half a decade later. That's a weird thing to suggest, frankly.

The broader point I was making is that technical issues don't necessarily have to mean something is bad. The substance of the channel, much like a game, is what matters in the end.

As for GB News cashing in on the culture wars, the only reason such a war exists is because there has been a one-sided, spineless media organism that has fomented the conditions for war. GB News wouldn't exist had it not been for the pre-existing ideological militia that are given the time of day that they clearly do not deserve. Furthermore, I doubt very much that GB News will rake in the cash on this issue anyway. Andrew Neil's interview with Chancellor Sunak yesterday had nothing whatsoever to do with culture wars - it was all finance. So, let's not paint GB News as some anti-woke central; because it ain't.

GB News exists to balance that inequality, so to speak.

The channel that stated it would be running a Woke Watch segment?

    Eskimo.

What does one random decision in some random university in a city hundreds of miles away with their random students Union have to do with you and yours and why are you so upset about it?

    Honestly ... Why.

Do you think the campaign to boycott the NFL was wrong but the campaign to boycott GBNews is good?

I don't view it as bad, pretty amusing that it upset them so much and that probably says something about them but I also view it as their absolute right to organise a boycott if they want. Meanwhile a poster on a pretty extreme end of the spectrum wishes to make such boycotts illegal. What do you think of that?
