Allenton area, Ballycragh - buying a house

Does anyone have any opinion on whether or not this is a decent area? Considering buying a house here. Currently living not too far away in Hunterswood. Am aware from older posts that it would have been considered a "rough area" a number of years back. Is it quiet now? Is there much anti social behaviour. The house I'm interested in is at the edge of a cul-de-sac. I've walked down there a few times and it seems quiet. Any info. Would be greatly appreciated.

Allenton should be razed to the ground. I have nothing but pity for the good people who are stuck living there.

I know the house you're thinking of. My Aunt lives on that road

Allenton is gone quiet. Its matured over the years and if I had the means, I'd buy there.

Was reading about the good people of Allenton only yesterday.

Foran of Allenton Avenue, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery of Jason Doyle, the manager of the pub, on January 1st, 2018. He has previous convictions for drug dealing and public order offences.

So no other areas or housing estates have people in them who've committed crimes?

You think there's somewhere in the city where nobody living there has ever committed a crime?

Overall, Allenton is a nice quiet area.
I've spent many years there.

Very harsh and unreasonable. It has calmed down a lot. It is 2 mins from M50, on several bus routes, has a superpub next to it - The Old Mill, a Centra and Supervalu locally, and a Lidl up near where you are now.
I would not have an issue with a house there.

I agree, it has lots of great things around it, it's just the habit of seeing the name crop up in crime reports in local and national media.

Like the lad who walked across to Macari's with an axe, robbed the cash register and walked home again. And the local that robbed Scholar's, and another who did over the pizza place.

Yeah cos a man didnt murder his landlord to death in Castleknock?
And Elaine O Hara wasn't killed by a man who lived in an affluent area?
I forgot it's only crimes in council estates that matter right?

That's a bizarre assertion and any Council involvement must now be long over seeing as the houses are privately owned and sold? Unlike the new Council built estate just across the road that is a credit to its owners/tenants.

Very late to respond here. I didn't see the responses to my original post until now. Oops. Anyway, I bought the house and have been here for just under a year. Have experienced no issues here. Quiet cul de sac. Quiet friendly neighbours. No issues with antisocial behaviour - which we did experience in Hunterswood. I'm not from Dublin originally (from rural Ireland). I've lived in many different areas in Dublin - north and south side, affluent and less affluent and I'm very happy here. It might be a different story in other parts of the estate but so far so good.
