Coffee maker for induction hob?

I've recently got a new induction hob but the base of the coffee maker doesn't seem wide enough to enable the smallest ring turning on?. They aren't actually rings either more like lines(Aeg). The coffee maker is compatible with induction so I don't think that's the issue. Is there some hack for this to work to prevent me from using the camping gas?

What width is your pot and I assume you have tried all the rings? Check your manual some may have different minimum widths.

I have this one that works on all my rings. Ikea hob so made by whirpool. It's just over 10cm wide at base but flat part on hob is 8cm.

Is there a specific section that just needs to be covered for the ring to come on?

Our mocka is much smaller than the ring but there's a very small section on the ring if it's covered the ring will still come on, so we have to be very specific where the mocka gets placed

Maybe this is the reason mine is too small at 6cm.
Yeah I've checked all rings and no look so far.

Can you put a stainless steel or aluminium disc on the hob and the pot on that? Loads of discs on EBay.

I don't know I never even knew this was possible being so green about induction hobs. I will look into this but in the meantime I bought a 6 cup mocca from the coffee store that was mentioned in the initial reply.

If it hasn't shipped check TK max I got mine there, can't remember exactly how much but it was less than €20. Link above was just first one that came up on google.

Aluminium won't work on an induction hob. It has to be iron based

:eek: That's not what it's for it's a pot stand that sticks to your pot to carry it to the table! If you put that on your hob at best it's going to melt stick to your pot and hob and a worst go on fire! Your induction hob should cut out before then though. That's one of the best features of induction hob if a pot boils dry or boils over it will turn off.

Seems like you can get proper plates for them but reviews don't seem great. The plate is going to get far hotter than you'd normally let a saucepan get heat transfer is inefficient. Better of just getting the proper cookware if you have an induction hob. It's well worth it anyway induction hob is just much more convenient to cook on.

The pot stand adheres to cookware suitable for use on induction hob as it is magnetic.

the plates can be a mixture of a suitable material and aluminium, as aluminium has very good heat transfer properties. So some of these plates are just advertised as "aluminium".

It would be better to get the coffee pot to heat directly, rather than through a plate.

I wonder if you put some other metal on the hob alongside it would it get it to recognise metal is in place and try and heat. Like it could be a metal knife laid down alongside it.

As another poster said try shifting it around the hob, I am guessing you might have only tried it centrally.
