Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Picked up this and WOTC, has taken me a while to come to terms with the fact my dudes ARE going to get injured and killed, but now that I have it's a lot of fun. Don't really know what optimal builds are, or what missions to target, and never going to play on Ironman mode or anything but whatever, it's single player.

Sunless Sea free on Epic this week.

Fairly original RPG set in the Fallen London world.
Quite text heavy but very well written.

Sinking City has been relisted on Steam today with a 60% discount

For anyone unfamiliar, it was delisted last August after the developers got into a protracted legal battle with their publisher. It was relisted for 24 hours back in January before another legal action got it taken down again, so no guarantees it'll stay on Steam this time either.

Edit: This appears to be a version released by the publisher, not the developers Frogwares who are distancing themselves from it. DLCs not included and it's possible it may not be supported in the future

if you like your Warhammer games, there's 12 of them free with the next issue of White Dwarf magazine. Most are smaller strategy games, but Vermintide 2 is in there.

Last time I bought white dwarf was around issue 220, I must be getting old if they are up to 462.
    Few nice games alright.
Do you know when it would typically hit the shelves.

I should add one small caveat on the White Dwarf bundle. The games are provided by a single key that activates a bundle called "White Dwarf Magazine 2020 - One Time Promotion". There's no spare keys that you can pass on for anything unwanted or duplicate.

I'd say it is. I never played them on PC though just each game on the Xbox and Xbox 360 and Xbox One when they were released. I also replayed the first one when it was re-released on the Xbox 360.

I also own the Masterchief collection on my Xbox Series X and I am a bit into the first game again and it is decent and plan to eventually get through each game on the MCC.

Check how much it is on the Xbox store. If think you wouldn't play it long term it might be worth signing up to game pass for a few months using the upgrade trick.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,213 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Definitely worth it, though you could just buy a months worth of Xbox live for €12-€15 and play through all the games that way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,282 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Thought of game pass but pretty safe to say I wouldn't play the whole series in a month. Likely just play one in that time.
I'll buy for that price. Should fit nicely in the backlog to plan on thinking about playing at some point. :)

Make sure you get this again, even if you already have it from the last time.
Add to the cart and checkout, it will then add the Last Survivor DLC for free.

GOG are having a Polish Games Festival/sale at the moment. Buy any game, and sign up for the GOG newsletter, and you'll also get a 15% discount code for peripherals at the Razer Store. Which is annoying, as I've just bought a mouse from them at full price.

Not a game, but a very useful little app for gaming, Lossless Scaling is €0.79 or 80% off atm.
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

I use this a lot for properly scaling older games to modern resolutions, without the blur that comes with using fullscreen GPU scaling.
AMD has something similar, Integer Scaling, althrough this app has a couple of nice features like Anti-Aliasing and darkening secondary monitor.
It's DRM-Free too, so just copy and use it on any machine.

Fury Unleashed is 9.99 on Steam until 2pm tomorrow, but weirdly only 9.89 if you get it in a bundle with the rest of the developer's games.

It's a side-scrolling platformer roguelike with upgrades between runs, a bit like Dead Cells or Rogue Legacy.
It's got an interesting combo mechanic where the more kills you string together in fairly quick succession, the more resources you gather for upgrades, but at the obvious risk of dying sooner. Plus occasional mini-quests within a run which will offer you bonuses in exchange for things like "melee the next 5 enemies", which you have to weight up the risks of.
The whole thing is framed as happening within the panels of a comic, with a meta-story about the comic's creator.

From a few hours playing last night the various elements are well thought out and fit together well, worth a look if you like the Hades / Dead Cells / Rogue Legacy genre. Definitely has that "one more run" aspect that kept me up way too late.

At €5.14 for all the DLC too I would add that in especially if you have plans to play online.

But be weary if you go online there is people who know this game like the back of their hand and will trash you in minutes of a round starting, saying this with 700hrs (too many?? :D) in this game but a lot of that is against 1 particular Boards user also :pac:

Only 5 dollars for 1000 games but you can give as much as you like. Stick an extra 20 in you won't notice it.

    Few good deals on GOG:
(sorry if prices are slightly off, for some reason I'm seeing them all in USD)

    Invisible Inc €5

    The Pedestrian €8.39
    Fun original platform puzzler

    The Sexy Brutale €5

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut €25.99

    Rebel Galaxy Outlaw €8.49

Witcher 3 GOTY €10 (also 9.99 on both Humble Store and Epic)

    Noita €13.29
A quite novel roguelike. Classic in the sense there's no meta-progression like Hades/Dead Cells/etc.
You progress in learning how the various mechanics and enemies work.
But platformy in that nothing else stops when you do, and your flight ability is limited and always runs out at the wrong time.
The main novel aspect being that every pixel in the generated dungeon is of a particular material which reacts with other materials in a variety of ways.
Which generally ends up as a chaos simulator as you shoot a flaming bee which dies in a reservoir of oil, that burns through a wooden wall and unleashes a flood of whisky. Leaving you with drunk enemies and the artefact you wanted to collect surrounded by a sea of flame.
For something that looks like a 2D pixelly platformer, and which I hated my first few runs through, there's a surprising amount of depth.
