MDPE Vs Qualpex for underground water pipe

    Hi folks

    I'd like to run a pipe from my outdoor tap to my shed underground in my garden. From what I've read it seems coils of plastic pipe are best to use for this

    So far I've found Qualpex pipe and MDPE pipe, and I'm struggling to figure which to buy. The Qualpex has the advantage that it comes in imperial sizes so can easily match up to my outdoor tap

    It is however about twice the price of the same length of MDPE

    If I can get a suitable fitting then I'm tempted to use the MDPE

    Is there any reason why I should be using Qualpex, is it more suitable for underground use or something?

    PEX will handle hot water which you don't need.

    I don't think qualpex is UV Rated, so won't be suitable if any of it is exposed.
    Hydrodare would be my choice. It can be used with imperial fittings. Just be careful, the sizing is confusing. 1/2" Hydrodare is 3/4" outside diameter so takes 3/4" fittings. It comes in light gauge or heavy gauge. You'll need to use inserts with the light gauge stuff, so easier just to use heavy gauge. Only problem is that it's tricky to straighten. TJ O'Mahonys sell it by the metre, which is handy!
