The 'market' certainly doesn't rate the PSTH deal

They got half the share Tencent did, months later, at a worse price - and then there's all sorts of weird tax implications with the SPARC and warrant business going on. All this and about 1 in 3 retail bagholder were still expecting Bloomberg/Stripe/Subway or some other reddit favourite.

If you liked the target, you might actually be better off selling the PSTH bags immediately and buying the dip on the Euronext IPO...

Viacom, $VIAC, is looking an interesting prospect at the moment.

Down to $38 from a recent high of $100. Current PE 8.5. It's annual revenue is the same as its market cap, $25b
Streaming revenue about $240m higher than Roku
Owns most of the tv shows with the highest viewership.
Owns rights and/or distribution rights to a lot of big move franchises including Marvel
Paramount+ is available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, PS, Xbox, Iphone, Android. Added 6mil new subscribers Q1. Is cheaper than other streaming sites, has rights to NFL and UEFA games.

Went in on this today at $41. Between the share offering at $85 and the credit suisse sell off, this is over sold and has good prospects going forward. Don’t expect it to reach previous highs of $100 without big change but settling into a mid $50-60

Reading on Reddit, being on Amsterdam exchange is a reason for a lot of the selloff, Robinhood currently don't support it, so in theory all those Robinhood PSTH holders will have to sell or transfer to another broker. Spooking a lot of people.

I'm gonna hold anyway. Shares are interesting with the 3 pronged approach. No idea what's gonna happen to the Warrants I own (and taking a -37% hit so far today )

I was in PSTH at a BEP of ~$27, bought about 40% more at $22 to bring me down to a BEP of ~$25
Happy enough to let it roll at that.

PSTH looks like it'll hit the base price and more than likely go below it for a while.
Lots of bag holders and bottom draw holders being made now

    Fair point :D

Although even SAPs interface isn't as bad anymore with Fiori. (Unless of course your one of their customers who still hasn't bothered moving away from the SAP GUI!)

I'd imagine Tencent would get it cheaper as they can bring a whole lot more to the company, anyone should be eager to have them on board considering how old a model UMG has.
Only thing Ackman has to bring to the company is money.

I am bleeding out, in way over my head who are the smart people here? Do the smart apes buy stocks on the European exchange over the US if available. Does anyone makes their decisions while in varying states of inebriation?

I only buy on US markets, stopped worrying about currency a while back. I got caught up in a Blackberry quoze from reddit whilst drunk, 6 month hangover.

Happy enough with Tontine, basically getting a 3 for 1 deal. OK it didn't live up to its hype but I belive in Bill; I'm up double my money in his Jersey based fund (think I invested 3 years ago? But its a Friday night and not in the mood to check my spreadsheet).

I've decided to hold long. Not sure it's a great deal, but it's not terrible either. I think if the second deal is for something like Tidal or something related to music events it could have some legs. If it's not something like that then the deal is not strategic at all and basically we just bought some pre ipo shares in something who's IPO probably won't do amazing anyway. Same deal with Airbnb and I'd have been delighted.

For the wolf of wallstreet analogy it's worth keeping in mind that you are on the receiving end of the phone call (reddit in this case) unless you got in super early.

I regret not taking a risk at 3 dollars as it wasn't far off AMC's real value at the time. But now it's an off the chart Ponzi scheme. If it's with small enough amounts of money then it's cool as a lottery ticket. Worst case it's a donation to the concept of keeping cinemas in the US alive I guess.

I got in on Ashford Hospitality Trust a couple of months back, it's a REIT, up over 100% for me, it has a long long way to go to pre Covid figures to recover, perhaps some potential left in it. Primarily invested in hotels in US.

The wonderful thing is the opportunities here due to deleveraging to cover shorts over the last few months. Plenty of 3-5x baggers to be realised over the next year or so if your risk-profile is compatible.

For example a huge amount of growth-tech, cannabis and biopharm were seriously oversold. Plenty of ~20-33% pops available withing 30d windows as volume and confidence returns.

Take PLTR - a 'brand name' - which you could have ridden from $18 to $24 over the course of the last two weeks or so (28.5%)

    image.png

Similar story with FROG - $34 to $44 dollars in the same time frame (25.6%)

    image.png

Then you've cannabis stuff like TLRY $13 to $18 (32%)

    image.png

And Cloudflare which I've talked in detail about before, $66-83 in the same fortnight (22.1%)

    image.png

All of the above are in growth industries where they've a huge chunk of the TAM, brand recognition, and positive cash flow with an appropriate market posture. They're all also at least 20% off their ATH, all of which hit that ATH in the last 12 months. And these are just four companies that I've talked about here before - there are thousands I'm missing.

The best bit of advice I can give you... is do your own research. Invest in companies you believe in, in areas you are interested in learning about.

Don't seek out short-term gains, look 5-10 years down the line at what could be mainstays in how we live our lives.

It’s a risky one but you gotta roll the dice, I have decision fatigue so I am trying to identify the smart peoples here and follow their actions. Isn’t that what you do?

Don't let others decide for you, you should have a broad portfolio, not just potential hope-for-the-best-ten-baggers

Some advice from a stranger on the Internet:
Stop doing what your doing now, begin by learning to look at and analyse a balance sheet / income statement / Cash flow statement (Even if its only at a high level).

It really should go without saying but nobody should be making any investment decisions purely from some randomers suggestion on one of these threads.

Good investing should be boring and not just a roll of a dice.

All investment is gambling, and i am in this for money. What about AMC and Gamestop and all the people that made some nice cash, advice from strangers online. My main position is a weed company from a cursory search which was mentioned a few times, quick search reveals Weed will be big business as it become legal across the globe. I Don't do spreadsheets not in this life anyways

I have a small war chest and am learning as i go, most of my stocks are ETF and class D etc, more risk but more gains too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭N958GB

I passed a test on ETF if that is even the right acronym for it and the multiple choice was easy to guess the right answer.

9/10 retail investors lose money in the stock market, many of them suffer losses of 80% of their capital. If you are relying on advice from strangers online then you will be one of the 9

When investing in the stock you need to assume the risk of losing your money. No matter how much research you do no one has divined the future. The pertinent information is not readily available through a cursory online search. i have over reached though it's wildly addictive.
