Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Plus about 300 for PCR tests?

From Monday you won't need PCR tests to travel to Spain, you will need them to get back to Dublin though.
    required to present:

-certificate of vaccination against Covid-19, or
-a negative diagnostic test for active infection, or
-certificate of recovery from the disease.
Children under 6 years of age are exempted from this requirement.

I am fully vaccinated. Will PCR be still required?

No PCR test required if fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid19 in the previous 9 months.

There'll be a lot of kicking a screaming before we get there but I fully expect cheaper antigen tests will be accepted in July. My two cents....

I booked Lanzarote back in March for a trip in October for next to nothing. Surprised there are still such cheap deals but good to see! Might book another for December, thanks OP.

As of now, yes, both ways. As of Monday, not to get there but you will to get back.

Can you still get slapped with a fine for travelling abroad without essential reasons?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,624 ✭✭✭votecounts

Still a fine for a non essential travel
PCR required back from Spain to Ireland, none to Spain as of Monday

I saw it where I get all my information about Covid restrictions, on an official government website.

    From Citizen's advice:
From 19 July 2021, Ireland plans to operate the EU Digital COVID Certificate (DCC) for travel originating within the EU and EEA.

A DCC will show if you are:

    Vaccinated against COVID-19
Recovered from COVID-19 in the past 9 months, or
Have a negative RT-PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours before arrival

Given the condition of the HSE IT system don't bank on the plan to proceed in a timely fashion

The vaccination IT system is run by Salesforce so it'll be just fine.

Even in Bargain Alerts there's someone looking to spread disinformation and fear and keep us locked into Ireland.

Also, the way that Dogre's post appears when quoted by Jeremy Beagle above makes it look like his unfounded personal opinion is a quote from citizens advice. It's not. People are free to travel from July 19th if they meet 1 of the 3 conditions.... Vaccinated, negative test or recovered from Covid-19 (within 9 months).

Thanks OP for the bargain alert!

Except of course the bargain is only available in June.

What is confusing me is some european resource from the comission about this Digital Green Certificate says 6 months, and not 9...
    Such as: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/qanda_21_1187
The regulation also introduces some basic principles, for example, setting the maximum validity period of the certificate of recovery at 180 days.

    Hi Dr. Nick

If its your own vaccine you developed or some other such shenanigans then I can see why your other half wouldnt be eager to travel.

Ill stick with Dr. Hibbert thank you very much.

They were 2 weeks ago when I was on a coach to belfast that stopped at the airport. No doubt a coach to the airport will bypass them anyway.

They were stopping traffic on the ramp to Terminal 1 on Sunday morning. Stopped every car.

You thought you had Covid but didn't get tested? You should be able to figure this out as you're clearly a genius.

Guys would I need a PCR test to get back to Ireland or would an antigen test suffice?

    PCR is €70
    Antigen is €30

Can I ask where you get those? Appreciate I’m not answering your Q but I suspect someone who can would need to know when you are arriving and from where and if you are vaccinated...

Wasn't there a time in Jan and Feb this year where the testing system crashed, i.e. they couldn't cope with the amount of testing being sought, and people were told to just isolate and assume that they had it if they had symptoms?

Non-stop flights from Dublin, Ireland to the Canary Islands from only €15 roundtrip.

    Fly to:
    Fuerteventura: €15
    Gran Canaria: €15
    Lanzarote: €19
    Tenerife: €19

    Availability in June.

And as for the old "keep us locked up "sthick"

I'll take it you haven't read the news in the last year and a half? - there's a global pandemic

And international travel remains potentially subject to disruption and curtailment. No harm people are aware of that.

For example- See those on holiday in Portugal atm who have had their holidays impacted by the changes in UK restrictions.

You need a PCR test. Ireland is not currently recognising antigen tests for entry.

They stopped testing asymptomatic close contacts, not people with symptoms.

That's was not the case with us, we we told not to present for testing even though my wife confirmed as they hadn't capacity, and we were to isolate anyways. And we had the same symptoms.

Nope. Not "on every bargain alert". But specifically regarding the comment referred to. But hey whatever . Generic comments not particularly useful tbf.

Why must i have to get vaccines?
Am i not right in thinking that if i have recovered from CV that i just need to show this? i.e an antibody test......Which brings me back to what i originally asked. Where do i get an antibody test that is recognized for travel? And what form does this result take. Is it like a letter, or is it linked to my passport, or an app on the phone.
If anyone has definitive answers, that will be much appreciated.
