Obviously people do care because he remains the spiritual leader of the Republican party and has given full voice to a proudly crass section of the American electorate, and similar minded people around the world. Also, even if it were an option to forget about him, it would be the wrong thing to do, i.e. those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, so let us take the example of Trump and hold him up as how a leader should not be.
