Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Has anyone used this as an alternative to straw?
    Seeing it advertised more regularly now on Facebook and places. Mostly UK based though.

    How well does it work for young stock and what is the deal with disposal/spreading?

    Used straw this year and found there to be little or no soak in it - turned into a giant sponge.

    Yip used on cubicals and for weanling before both fresh and dried waste paper . On the health front the pH is similar to peat so you get no nasties growing in it . The dry paper can be pricey enough used it on cubical beds was great . Used the fresh for weanling got very muddy looking but cattle stayed clean on it . It's not the best stuff to be spreading on land

    What makes it bad for spreading - is it the time for it to rot in or does it disrupt the the soil pH?

    I was looking at this as it came up on Facebook, but they don't ship to here as yet:

    Maybe heavy metals in the inks?

    On the bedding, you can't beat well saved rushes with a bit of grass through it, cheap and cheerful.

    And when you spread the dungy Rushes you will have plenty more fields of rushes for next year bedding. The calves just can't nest down in to the rush as they can with straw. They are ok for bigger cattle
