    Hi everyone,

My mother is looking for a new car, she's currently driving a Ford mondeo the past couple of years but wants a smaller car that's abit newer in year.
    She's looking a 2013/14 yaris

But I'm wondering if there's anything better.
She mostly wants reliability and something to carry the grandchild around once every couple of weeks. Trips to the shop etc.. So no big mileage obviously going for petrol as well.

Would a micra be any better? Or a hyundai i20?

    Cheers everyone

10k seems like a lot of money to be paying for a 7 or 8 year old Yaris.

I'd definitely look at the Hyundai i20:

Also look at the likes of the Kia Rio, cousin of the Hyundai i20:

Another one is the Renault Clio, seems to be a bit more value in them:

I'd avoid Micras, the model in your price range is really a budget car designed for developing economies in the Far East, they are cheaply built and well below the likes of the Yaris, i20, Rio, etc.

Why not just go for electric? she will get a decent car for that budget and will save buying petrol/service costs etc

Ford Fiesta l is a great option but your budget prob a bit tight to get into the new model from late 2017 which is a vast improvement

I think a Yaris hybrid would be perfect for her if her budget will stretch that far. Once she goes automatic, she'll never want to go back. Plus they tend to come with relatively good spec, very reliable, fuel efficient etc.

Kia Picanto or Dacia Sandero. You’d get a nearly new version of either for 10k.

Not sure on the rules around this, but I posted in the "selling a second hand car" sticky thread at the top of this forum. Will be selling in the next 2 weeks. 171 Nissan Note 1.2 well within your budget. No ad yet, but will do one soon.
