Ah would ya leave it so - there were multiple songs tonight that were as bad if not worse and they got points. Germanys song was pure dirt. There had to be something more to it

Germany got 3 points and 0 from the popular vote.

It isn't really a song contest, is it?

    It's a melting pot now

Good songs have a chance, great variety of genres at or near the top

Neighbourly voting has been diluted by the number of participants

It is a stronger contest now than it ever was

I tuned in late so am just hearing the winning song now. Yer man could be singing away there about a door for all I know, but it's a rockin tune.

Every song in this ripped off something to be fair.

    Never as blatently as that.

Poor UK. I liked the Swiss song, but good on Italy.

It was a good song but the guy was a creep. Well, gave me a creepy vibe. Glad they didn't win. Nazi gold pricks

Ukraine tune was the standout imo, the "professional" juries really scuppered them.

Didn't see Italy winning, but got one thing right.
Nil pointe for the brits this year.

Three Countries of the big five that don’t have to quality didn’t get a single vote from the public! UK, Germany and Spain.

Total bs that they get a free ride into final just because of their population size.

That's not why they are in. They pay the bills cause the rest of us could not afford to host and we're reduced to sending Father Ted

They basically ripped off Rage against the machine.

    Linkin Park more like.

No wonder last year was so bad, no Eurovision.

    Best show on TV.

What won it for Italy? Musically it’s fairly old fashioned..

Not hip hop, not generic pop song, not some girl running on a treadmill and no political statement. Decent tune, and entertaining show.

They basically ripped off Rage against the machine.

It's an incredibly generic rock song, it's not ripping off any one band in particular

    Not in Rotterdam!

Delighted Switzerland didn't win. He was a cocky singer who thought he had it won before the public decided.

That’s rubbish. Sitting there on their phones all night on the Colombian marching powder with a face on. Totally undeserved.

Yeah, proper musicians don’t do drugs.

So you really think even non EU countries (of which there are many) did not vote vote for UK because of Brexit?

Don't forget because of the border, Brexit makes more news in Ireland then the rest of Europe.

Thought Italy were ok, nothing overly memorable, but a lot of Europeans appear to love heavy metal I guess.

Ireland need to send a nice death metal band next year methinks.
It's not heavy metal. It's just rock n roll. Stuff that used to be on the radio all the time at one stage.

Hopefully it inspires some young lads to stick with the guitars.
