I was really looking forward to this but it honestly felt a bit flat to me. Felt like a bit of a missed opportunity really to make something really special on it.

Somewhat enjoyable but didnt find it that engaging.

I kind of get what you mean even though I enjoyed it. I felt that some of them had plenty to say.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I woudered why a lot of the cast were missing from the programme. Maybe not everyone had positive things to say.

It's odd you would think It was something like that but some of the cast were saying during the week they have a WhatsApp group and they were all surprised they weren't asked on to the late late or anything as a group .

Not unless you have a VPN.

That's usually my second last resort but was just checking to see if it was co-produced by an international broadcaster that may be due to show it.

I see "The Commitments" is on tonight on RTE 1 after Eurovision.
No intention of watching it but I might record it if I can.

Is there any particular reason why you have never watched the commitments. I think it's up in the top 10 of the best Irish pictures ever made. I loved the Snapper as well but not so much the Van. Looking forward to the next 2 episodes. A big thumbs up to RTE for doing something right.

As someone said earlier, they've really missed a trick by not having the films on just before or after the show.

Personally,i always liked the Barrytown trilogy. But I can see why others do not like it.
It is very 'Dub centric' and I am a Dub so I probably relate to it more. I look out for areas I know well where it was filmed stuff like that.

I actually think the Commitments taught me how to curse properly as a young fella. Plus I remember wearing a commitments T-Shirt with commitments curses on it such as 'tosser' and 'ask me bolix'

If I was to rate the three films in order it would have to be

    1) The Van - nice tidy story and always love the bit where Jimmy Rabbitte Senior bites a chunk out of the burger because a fella was short a few pence.

    2) The Snapper - seemed very authentic - but I always felt sorry for annoy named Sharon. 'A1' or 'A1 Sharon' was a 'go to' phrase as it was after that film.

    3) The Commitments - while having good bits in it - always felt it was bit long and could have been tidied up a bit more.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The Snapper is on next Saturday, I don't think they're showing The Van at all

Thanks, that is pity not having the Van it is like a three legged stool missing a leg.

TV3 / VM seem to air The Snapper every two months

The Van is rarely shown anywhere

The series Family, tough watch but could do with a repeat

No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change this World

It’s true that some of the lines from the snapper are still used today. Big baby, small turkey.

No it was originally like the footbridge in Sutton station. I think it was redone around the time when the flats were demolished.

Oh right. Kind of seems unnecessary to have it curving like that.

It's for wheelchair and buggy access, great improvement on what was there.

Brendan Gleeson was great in the snapper.

I never knew Greendale was so closely backed on to the Curley house.

My vivid memory of that scene is the “is that you squeaking ?” line.

So they showed the mother of the baby. I wonder will we hear from the baby herself which if she was born in 1992 is nearly thirty.

I always thought it was genius that Matthews and Linehen cast Georgie Burgess as Pat Mustard.

A great nod and a wink.

Georgie B should have been jailed or hammered, that hedge clippers thing was ridiculous.

The outburst from Dessie at Burgess in the gents was great.

Wait there were two baby’s ? You learn something every day.

Best line in any of the three films. Large baby and small turkey is just such a good line.

It’s nice that the main actor says she’ll never get tired of being associated with Sharon Curley. It makes a change from the commitments where there seemed like a bit of a mixed reaction.
