Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spieth for the grand slam hopefully

  • Registered Users Posts: 777 ✭✭✭Pdoghue

I'm looking at the scores and the pace of play seems incredibly slow. For example, Rory's group teed off at 1.33 Irish time; now it's 4.33 and they've only played 9?

    Langer pips it on 18...

    oh wait...still hurts

lowry going along nicely just needs to get the putter going

Great to see Padraig under par

I really like Jordan Speith but he's the golfing equivalent of Bruno Fernanndes today with his constant squealing and moaning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

That lie for Lowry in the bunker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Wind is really picking up now. Up to 25mph. Should be a lot of fun this evening. A real battle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Tringale was -1 after 13 holes today but just went triple-par-quintuple on 14, 15 and 16

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Lowry said he wasn’t sure if it’s possible to hit the 8th and 14th greens!!

And now a 7 on the the par 3 17th!!!!

Love Louis but it’s ridiculous he has never won a pga tour event!!

He literally has the best and most enviable swing in tour. Think he only cares about majors now anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

And now a 7 on the the par 3 17th!!!!

And a bogey on 18 to cap it off. Jaysus

I just realised Tringale started on the 10th so he was +12 thru 9

Justin Thomas is having a bit of a nightmare. Lots of bad shots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

Anyone know why they always use the current cut line as the projected cut? Surely the projected cut should take into account whether players still on the course are gaining or dropping shots on average? E.g. right now they say the prijected cut is +4 even though trends in scoring mean it’ll be more like +5 or 6

Trying to follow on the App at the moment. We were spoilt during the Masters and how good it was. The PGA one is awful and constantly crashes

It's woeful isn't it, masters one was buggy enough at times too.

Bryson hits it onto the middle of the waste bunker and gets a line of sight drop into a fairway. ****ing ridiculous.

Imagine having the gall to ask for a ruling there.

How does de chambeau get a drop on a fairway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,457 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Bryson's swing is vomit to my eyes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,457 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Lowry and Harrington in it for the weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Hard to believe Louis has only won 4 times outside of South Africa, with his swing you'd wonder how he doesn't win 5 times a year

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,768 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

It's some quality leaderboard. So many big names.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,982 ✭✭✭Degag

Sky just said that the last person aged 50 or more entering the weekend of a major in 5th place or better was Hale Irwin ~20 odd years ago.

Have they forgotten totally about Tom Watson?:confused:

And Greg Norman the year before!

Maybe they meant at the PGA specifically?

Had to rewind it back to make sure but he definitely said "major"

But yeah, maybe meant the PGA.

Ya I was sure he said major too

Just thinking aswell surely Couples and maybe Langer have been high up the leaderboard at the Masters going into the weekend a few times

They were top 5 after Saturday, but were they after Friday?

Watson was leading after Friday and Saturday iirc

Correct, T1 after R2 and in his own right after R3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,498 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Crowd acting like knobs as always. Someone at 17 keeps shouting “get ya mask off”. Just stfu

Some numpties in the crowd now. "Get your mask on"

Thought "Mashed Potatoes" was bad but that was at least slightly amusing in it's randomness.

Really have to wonder what kind of people go to these events to act like that. Even with alcohol involved.

Didn't realise they had 'gators there! Usually inundated with pictures from courses they inhabit but first i've seen of them thus far this week!

Don't know why this is allowed. You will only ever have line of sight problems if you are way off line. No reason to give you an out. Really rewarding players being wild off the tee, as long as you are far enough off the fairway.

    3hrs for nine holes!:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,333 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Pace of play is absolutely ridiculous... But they penalised some relatively unknown guy from the European Tour yesterday so all is good.

It'd be some story if Phil managed to win. I don't think it will happen - i feel he will fade away but will be delighted if i'm wrong.

Not anyway as big as if Tom Watson won in 2009 but very big all the same

    Shane and poulter out together

    Padraig and Fitzpatrick

Van Rooyen took a couple of angry swings after he hit the water on 17, he hit the tee marker and it very nearly hit Wallaces caddie who was just walking past, also the head of his club flew off (not sure if it was tee marker or the clubhead that just missed the caddie).

Will give him some confidence going to Torrey Pines either way though and a win there would be possibly one of the greatest ever golf moments.
