    What's that got to do with anything? a deflected free kick that hits the wall and goes in the opposite side of goal is given to the player taken the free kick if the shot was on target - not much different to a corner sure.

    It does not mention whether it was on target or not in the fpl rules

    Own Goals -
    If a player shoots or passes the ball and forces an opposing player to put the ball in his own net, then an assist is awarded.

    I think it might have been different if it had not been a corner fpr the EPL stats?

    Anything that results in the ball being on target is considered a shot I think. No matter how accidental it is.
