Can remember watching it on tv.

Chris de Burgh singing "Patricia the Stripper" always stuck in my head.
So did the beautiful Leslie Dowdall.... and U2 singing "Maggies Farm"......

Not self aid related but today is also the 3rd anniversary of The Rolling Stones in Croke Park. What a great night that was back in 2018

I was at Self Aid, great day out. The Pogues were on fire. Was at the Stones gig too. Another great concert.

I was too young to go but I remember my older cousins went as it was "great value" gig.

The Pogues and The Chieftans were given afternoon slots. For phucks sake.

At least Brush Shiels was thought of as the Status Quo opener. It's just too funny.

I wish there was more footage of the shows available. I remember Paul Brady giving an absolute belter of a performance of Hard Station but haven't been able to find any recording of it.

The Blades had broken up at that stage

Feargal Sharkey had not yet fully established himself as a solo artist (self aid was before A Good Heart etc.)

I always liked Brush, though in moderate enough doses was possibly advisable. I remember one of the stories involved Phil accompanying him on his honeymoon. They were definitely close anyway.

Eh no, A Good Heart made the top of the charts about 6 months before Self Aid. Anyway Sharkey was already well known at that stage from his Undertones days.
