Could mean a range of things from "this is for your information" to "this is what we say and we won't be told different!"

We are/were in a dispute with a builder for defective work but the builder refused to accept it was defective.
Our council paid a grant for the work and I have recently got the council to agree the work is defective and they have agreed to approve a second grant so my solicitor is informing the builder that the council do not believe the work is up to standard.
