Decking paint.

I am looking for the best paint to put on a decking, that has multiple different
products applied, and still looks like crap after a afew years.

The last one was ronseal 2 years ago, and now looks patchy in spots,
and non existent in others.

Budget is not an issue,

I'm a fan when I can afford them of Owatrol's products. Main reason is most of them do what they say on the tin and the main wood finishes penetrate the wood and don't leave a varnish type coating on the timber - easy preparation when they need another coat.

Start here https://www.owatrol.ie/woodcare/decking/ maybe some useful products for preparation and here https://www.owatrol.ie/woodcare/decking/ is what I'd have a go with having found Textrol one of their other wood coatings very good.

Agreed. I used textrol on my outdoor bench. It is hard to use but it’s an excellent product.

There's definitely a technique needed with Textrol. I try to keep the surface wet as long as possible then brush off any excess.

OP, are you planning to strip back all existing paints ?
I think you will have to in order to get best results.
Ronseal deck cleaner scrubbed in and a power wash did the trick for me.
While I do like the decking paint colours available, I opted for 2 coats of clear decking oil by Screwfix.
Most of the advice here suggested NOT to use paint.

So what's the trick with Textrol, I have alot of wall cladding to do !

It’s keeping a wet edge that’s the issue. You have to lay wet on wet. The bench I was using it on was well seasoned but soaked the stuff up quickly and I had lots of small sections to do - legs, braces etc. So it got dry quickly making it hard to look even (I went with the grey). On a flat surface it would be more straightforward.

Continental might advise better. As would the lads who sell the stuff. Very helpful.

Well another Owatrol product is EB. I used it and masonry paint (good quality 100% acrylic - I used colour trend) and I’ve had excellent results on my wooden fence. I can certainly recommend it.

Again the lads will advise you from Owatrol (Igoe international).

Have spent the last few hours power washing off all the old crap. Now down to clean timber
on half the deck. So Roll on tomorrow.
