Tiles & Wood flooring - How to keep level

I have a new build and will be tiling most of the common areas with engineered wood flooring in the bedrooms. I would like to avoid saddle board’s if possible. Of course the tiles and wood flooring are different thicknesses. Do I just put a thick layer of levelling compound under the tiles to bring it up to the same height…

Adhere tile backer board to the floor to required height it comes in various sizes 4mm to 20mm not cheap by any means prob 50% the cost of the tiles.
Anything less than 4mm leveling compound can be used.
After 4mm it starts to get costly for a full room

Would you consider using flooe levelling compound to increase the height/level of those floors?
