I bought a Dec 2010 1.6 diesel Octavia recently. 160,000km. I'm very happy with it overall but have discovered a slight bit of play in the steering. I went to my mechanic at short notice this evening and he put it on the lift between jobs. He couldn't find anything wrong mechanically. Just a tiny bit of oil leaking from the left shock. He said it's only started and shouldn't be what's causing the problem. It passed NCT in Mid march. He asked me to come back next week and he'd look into tracking and electric steering. As there was another customer waiting he hadn't much time to talk.

I'm just wondering if anyone has come across this and what I should be prepared for.
