Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I can see mass protest openings soon alright, shur large retailers are a law onto themselves

    These 'guidelines' and policing of them are the problem. If demand is there, which it is, then why wouldn't shops make money where they can. Enough have gone to the wall without adding further thousands of job losses by not letting someone buy a pair of jeans but they can buy a pair of undercrackers. All of retail should have been made at least click and collect at the last lifting of restrictions to help small shops too.

    Maybe we should start posting them our dirty underwear in protest. They would probably like that though.

    You can walk in and buy a birthday card in there, but not a book unless you buy it online and collect it or reserve it or some other sh1te. A load of tosh. What's the difference, both can be purchased online as it is.

    I ha e no objection to all business being open, they should protest to open everything up not against others who have already done it.

    no we shouldnt protest to open everything up, we should be using sense, in order to save businesses from going bust

    Are cafés and restaurants allowed outdoor dining already?
    On our way out to the beach, we passed a place with 4-5tables outside with all of them occupied. And the place is just 100m beside a Garda station?

    Nope, not yet but there seems to be a loop hole where you can serve takeaway and happen to also have outdoor seating. They're not serving to the tables. It means they don't have to offer toilet facilities too, so safe enough really.

    You couldn't be more wrong, as usual. Tons of Irish greeting card makers who don't charge for postage. Have a look at shopinireland.ie or any ot the other sites for Irish made stuff. Yeah ;)

    I think it depends on the staff member - my friend was able to get some books on Friday, not ordered in advance, she just chanced her arm (not condoning or condemning!). Definitely not fair to other bookshops.

    Very hard to see how that can be a viable business model, unless they're actually part of a mega-sized drop-ship organisation. 3.50 revenue, vs 1.00 postage, card printing, enclosed envelope (I'd assume), postage materials, cost of refunds for non-deliveries, VAT, tax, labour - something's got to give.


    Hint for everyone: if you put www. at the start of links, and leave "Automatically parse links in text" ticked, then links will appear in blue and be a lot easier for everyone to see.
