    You’re right, of course. They do seem to blur into one another sometimes. :)

    Huberman is scary up close-like... for an actress, she really doesn't know 'her angles'.

    Listening to PK yesterday morning for a while. Took note of an ad break.

    * Quote Devil (no surprise there)
    * Enterprise. com (?)
    * PowerCity
    * Pictorium photo shop (yeah, I don't know either)
    * National training centre (?)
    * SuperValu.
    * Trocaire.
    * Link finance.

    That's 8 revenue generating ads.

    Popped over to waffles (RT) and had to suffer 7 mins of scutter before an ad break.

    * RTE NSO live.
    * HSE Bowel screenig.

    So I'd imagine RTE's ad fees are too expensive.
    Instead of reducing your prices, you accept reduced advertising and claim that your revenue is down and continue to claim the wage income support from the govt.

    Nice one Dee.

    It's the same all day, ads for their own shows and government

    Big difference is there’s no commercial advertising on BBC (except some BBC world podcasts, which hardly count)

    Una is easy on the eye but RTE are insisting on foisting her upon viewers and here the RTE website is pushing her line of clothing.
    She is being groomed for z-list stardom.
    This is not what a Public Service Broadcaster should be doing.

    "Una dazzled".
    Daithi looked pretty dapper too!

    Imagine RTÉ wanted to buy joe.ie and her.ie but are very capable of writing non-stories themselves!

    She was VM1 too, filling in for Muireann O'Connell while Muireann was dealing with her father's passing.

    Is she trying to be a Country Singer, or a TV presenter?

    Duffy/Liveline is worse. Only ads are for what’s coming up on D’Arcy.

    RTE's adds are shorter by law. Something to do with the licence fee, Well, on TV anyway, i think it's the same for Radio.

    This is true. RTÉ and TG4 can only show 6mins on average of ads per hour with 9 mins maximum

    Independent Radio has an average of 9mins and a max of 12. per hour

    While Independent TV has a max of 12. per hour.

    However I think RTÉ could sell advertising not just to the HSE, who became the 4 biggest advertiser in March for TV!

    RTE should make 6.01 a half hour programme with one newscaster.

    Surely there would be some significant savings by doing it.

    The current hour long set up is crazy waste of taxpayers money, no wonder David McCullough fancied the job!

    Three people to cover the news and little or no sport.

    Since I am working from home I have seen it more and in fairness after about 20 minutes they are filling it with stuff that could be on Nationwide!

    As for this lazing around on big couches, what a joke that is!

    The nine o'clock news is more like what it should be I think.

    Unless its Covid RTÉ News and CA has gone very light.

    From very awkward staged questions to their own reporters on Prime Time (Miriam: So what will you be focusing on? (clearly she didn't want to ask that question and stuttered along it) to very light reports on competitions in a primary school or some such non-news story.

    I don't agree with the news being cut to 30 would save much money. I would say that you only need one presenter for the show, while the other could provide an alternative night time news on RTÉ2.

    Same goes for Nationwide, 3 presenters roaming the country to introduce reports when they could have one presenter in RTÉ Cork introducing those reports. The other 2 again could be better utilized.

    When there’s little to no talent there. Anything will suffice as long as it’s well paid..... and your well connected.

    I remember when she first came on the scene, she was in one of the ‘biggest’ girl bands that nobody had ever heard of......

    Still though, at least she’s easier to look at than Nathan Carter.

    Biggest waste has always been their washington correspondent. They always seem to be missing. I haven't seen him report much on the floyd george case, instead it's reported from Dublin.

    However do we expect Newsreaders only? It's daft to think that you could run a news service without paying your staff or having no staff.

    Ah good ol Brian O'Donovan. He's set for life now. Do a couple of years in Washington, return to Ireland and then straight into a co-anchor role on the six one news.

    That's the way it works right?
