Solid fuel central heating circuit - balancing valve?

    Hi,

    Regarding solid fuel heating circuits, There should be no valve or restriction on a solid fuel circuit all the way to the feed and expansion tank.

    But should there be a balance valve on the coil from the solid fuel circuit or not?
    I noticed there is not on mine, and wondered if there should or should not be one?

    IMO, no, because in most cases this coil acts as the heat dump (via the HW cylinder) in the event of power failure or stove pump failure.

    Thanks for the response.
    Its makes sense to not have to rely on the open vent to take away the heat completely.
