Anyone know when this re-opens, been closed for months now. Google business hours show open but turned up there with boot full only to find it closed. It's outside so don't see why it's still closed

Thanks for stating the obvious yet according to their facebook page this should not be the case.

That's wee Ireland not GCC. Google business hours can rarely be trusted these days. Better to ring ahead when going somewhere like this.

Agree with the OP - Very easy to maintain social distancing and its outside. Vast majority of Civic Amenity sites are open around the country.

'Stinks' of Galway Council using 'Government Restrictions' as cover for cost saving measures.

Arguable that this has contributed to the increase in dumping, which in the end Council pay for.

I was just wondering this myself. According to Owen Hanley it'll open on the 26th.

Last time I was there the clothes bank was closed "for social distancing". Dunno how closing the clothes bank improves social distancing when it's shoved in a corner out of the way...

It's bizarre that waste disposal facilities aren't considered an essential service. And then GCC wonders why there's been an increase in illegal dumping...
