I also have that coupon. I think I ordered the Connoisseur, European and Mexican Jag a while back. Toying with ordering the Mexican lion boy

I debated ordering the Lion Boy. Maybe next time. You should order it in the interest of research for the thread :)

Iv tried a few of the Mexican beans from different roasters and I'm never particularly impressed, especially given they are usually more expensive

Ponaire kindly sent me a code for a fiver off (free delivery in practice) so I ordered a Colombian, Nicaraguan and Peruvian at 2am yesterday. It's being delivered this morning.

    Same here , got Colombian.
Beans were very fresh . Dark roast . Nothing special apart from freshness.
You’ll get very same bean at M&S ,similar roast profile too ( M&S used to have medium roast for this bean , I did like it a lot , not anymore though)

I ordered the Conneusieur, Bob o Link and Mexican Lion Boy, arrived on Thursday.
The Mexican is quite nice. The only problem is it has me singing that stupid Mumford and Sons song at 8am in the morning.

I just bought a second box of the Banka Natural from Cloudpicker, it's a beautiful coffee packed with incredible strawberry and floral tea kind of notes.

I drank a lot of local coffee in Yunnan, good stuff. I'll have to pick up some of this.

Yup, I bought banka natural and washed from manifesto in Edinburgh. Really enjoyed both but I preferred the natural one as it was more unique. Interesting comparing both.

The washed was quite sweet(plum) with delicate notes of black tea while the natural was chocolate and really big hit of red wine. Would be keen try it again so I'll grab another one from cloudpicker this week.

Bell Lane have been counting down to this launch tomorrow - https://www.instagram.com/p/CM_eaqsgpAp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I really don't know enough about processing to understand this but sounds like a big deal form the marketing anyway!

Way too many good coffee roasters these days - need to up my consumption :p:p

Got some of that Diego burmedez coffee myself. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. I love experimentally processed coffee and I was looking to order it after hearing good things.

Any decent offers anywhere at the moment? Down to my last 250g bag so need to stock up...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 797 ✭✭✭breeno

Got an order from Ariosa this morning. Ordered Sunday evening so a good turnaround. Free delivery over 25 quid is good too.

Went for their house espresso blend as well as "Cabin Fever" and "Perfect Everyday". One was roasted on 29/03 and the others 23/03 so nice and fresh.

Tried the perfect everyday and it's a nice medium everyday coffee as described.

Seems to be the exact same price as buying the beans seperately, i.e no discount on that "Easter Selection Box". Also spelling Colombia with a 'U' :(

Roasted yesterday, delivered today. That's some turn around from bell lane. Unless they have a secret roastery in the DPD depot.

Couple of new-ish roasters that I have come across and keep going back to:

    Tra Coffee Roasters (Tramore)
    Blue Butterfly (Waterford)

Bit partial to the Tra Colombian myself.

We have tried both as well and liked them.

10% off the Congolese beans at WCC:
    https://westcorkcoffee.ie/shop/congo

    10% code: BH10

    Valid until 23:59 Monday

Have to say, trying a few different coffees recently and some have come out weak in Cappucinos etc.

Based on bean density (Going on what google says, higher density = lighter roast), seems i have had some light roasts. Maybe I should have played more with the temp changes etc.

Would really love if sites would give some more info on their products, roast, intensity, recommendations for brew etc.

Finding myself going back to tried and tested rather than trying new now.

Not online I know, but worth mentioning:
I have a card for Musgraves (big wholesale cash 'n carry). I called into their Ballymun store.
They have about 10 to 15 types of beans, all at very good prices. e.g. starting from €10/kg. But more commercial then a lot of the more exotic offerings we usually talk about here.
    I bought the following:
1kg South Coast Coffee Rebel Espresso Blend.
1kg Douwe Egberts Barista Editions Rich Espresso.
    1kg Eduscho Espresso.
I can't remember the exact prices, but IIRC they were all in the €10-€15 range.
I'll be using these for Cappucinos & Americanos. I look forward to trying them!

Freshly roasted with a roasted on date?

There's a big difference between freshly roasted and commercial supermarket coffee. Very few here are looking for cheaper coffee, myself I pay €28 per kilo for my regular but it's roasted the day I order it.

Freshly roasted with a roasted on date?
    Good point sir.
Batch numbers, but no specific roasting dates.
    Best-before dates only: March 2022, Aug 2021, March 2022.
    I'll get me coat ðŸ˜
But I'll be interested to see if there is much of a difference against my recent fresh online purchases from McCabes, Ponaire, and Ariosa.
