If I was in a date with one of the 2 friends, I would be thinking, there is good chance they turn out like those two fools of mothers and say no to a second date.

A good chance? It's already happened. If someone is so close to a parent that they'd be happy to bring them along on a first date, on national television, I would steer clear. Not just because of what they'll turn out like, but because of what you'd have to deal with in the here and now.

They had too much focus on the mothers, they started to dominate the show. That's the fault of the producers and editors, they need to learn from this.

Thought the guy with the red-head was too nervous, he admitted it himself. He was far more natural in the audition than in the restaurant. Also I'll give him the benefit of the doubt when it came to her paying. First of all he may have objected a fair bit, but this could have been cut. Also I would be under the impression she was angling for a second date. She doesn't want someone who has the same interests as her; frankly that's a tiny bit odd but fair enough. But he had lost from the off as the red-head fancied the Cork army guy like mad.

Cork army guy was a very relaxing date, thought she was nice too. Big distance between the two of them and she's a home bird I think.

Was surprised the Mayo drummer didn't go on a second date with Jane. Thought she looked way better in the audition with the hair down. Her look was very 70's hippy. But as someone said above he has a very long road to travel to full recovery, prone to relapses on the way. But he seems like a very, very decent bloke all the same.

I really like the older couple, I like the way she knows what she wants to do with her life. Funny the way they both live at home with the parents now. They seem well suited to each other, if not as a couple then certainly as friends. She's still hurt from her ex passing away, she should consider grief counselling. I did it and it helped me enormously.

Thought the programme was overall good tonight, would be a lot better if we had less of the mothers.

Hate the entrants with a gimmick, like bringing an entourage or parent with them....they should've been kept separate as the second fella never got a chance after the ginger one saw the first fella (and i think she said she wanted a gaa head - she kind of reminded me about a decade ago when i was that age and majority at that age would prefer a gaa head type)

Tbf, you can't expect many 22yo's to have had much life experience yet...hence the normal smalltalk
But the older pair even at 22 had already a lot of experience and interesting stories from the sound of it.

The way the girl came over and said did she want to go to the toilet - it was like "half time" in a match. And when the mothers went in. Oh god, it was like a football manager giving them a minute to gather their thoughts before going in.

Lol you hit the nail on the head, that's exactly what it was like. Incredibly rude to interrupt their date too. Her date looked bewildered. Head wreckers there would be 5 people minimum in the relationship. No thanks

I loved both musicians. He's very brave to be so open about his recovery and struggles. In saying that I kind of felt he was more interested in telling his story than getting to know his date. Maybe I picked it up wrong or it was nerves which is understandable in fairness

I was surprised the older couple matched I wasn't feeling any chemistry between them.

Good god that Dutch girl had me weak at the knees. She was absolutely gorgeous.

I thought they got on very well but I guess it was more friendly than flirty. He's also got a lot of baggage and although it didn't appear to bother her on the show she obviously had enough of a head on her shoulders to know that's not what she wants which you have to respect too.

Two very very classy people it was really refreshing to see.

What is it with this thread and hating GAA players? It feels like people found out the colleague they stared at in work but never said hello to ended up dating a GAA player and they’re never going to let it go. Such irrational hatred towards something that hasn’t even happened in the show and keeps coming back up. :pac:

I was surprised the two musicians didnt get together, I was really surprised he said no as she was cute and very nicely also got a N/A beer, which is a really lovely way to handle being on a date with a non drinker. It suggested to me she wasn't like a lot of Irish girls who would tend to think it was weird and not fun to be on a date and not drink.

He was very good looking too, and really nice. But...

I would never spring the whole recovery thing on someone on a first date, especially in Ireland. Girls will run a mile even though like your man there, that road can often give people a whole new outlook, teach them patience, kindness, etc which are positive things for a partner. There is also the chance of relapse like some have said but for most they just want to be able to drink without affecting the other person, even if its just occasionally.

Happily Married man with kids so no....

The hair, the dress sense, the feminine demeanour is what led me to think he was gay

The girl herself was quite bitchy/passive aggressive to him during the date

He had a lucky escape with that one

    Ye?

I’m a man. I would still never let a girl pay for me, regardless if we fancied each other or not.

Old fashioned? Perhaps, but that’s the way I and many other men are wired.

Yes,when he came in first, I was expecting a man to be his date.

ETA..I'm talking about the older man not the younger musician. Think most people are talking about the musician?
Perhaps men are more in tune with their feminine side now?

I just have to say this. She didn't have blonde hair. She didn't have red hair. It was orange.
    Carry on.

    Twins.

Is she a soap actress? She looks more natural there. I had orange hair before so not judging per say.

The red head girl was just plain rude when she roared across the restaurant to her friend 'THE LARGEST GIN THERE IS' or whatever it was. The four of them were just a coven of head wreckers dressed awfully. He still should've paid his half and legged it out of there though!

I agree, there was something off about her. So many times when her date was in the middle of saying something completely normal she shook her head and put it in her hands as if she couldn't believe what he was saying....people like that are usually the ones without any life experience outside of their own little bubble
