    ...to go to what ?

Will have to be county travel. This 8 or 10k suggestion can’t be real.

    Pretty insulting alright

"Never ascribe malice when it can be explained with incompetence. "
Pretty much sums up Irish politicians over the past 20 years.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Agreed, it has to be county at the very least but unfortunately, I think it more than likely will be a token of a few km's....and they'll pat themselves on the back for that - bunch of charlatans

This will pop a few forehead veins here lol

Honestly I've no problem with the lockdowns. I hope they are not eased until it is safe to do so. The last thing we should see is politics taking precedence and the lifting of restrictions just to placate a few whiners and cry babies.

Hold firm, get the vax rolled out and lift them when enough have been given the 2 shots.

Won't though, because we left the decision in the hands of the politicians.

1 shot once the J&J vaccine gets going. Can be stored in any decent fridge too

A country cannot function based solely on health advice either though so you're just as wrong in your approach.

A balanced approach is needed at this stage. "A few whiners and cry babies" - get a grip will you, so out of touch with reality it's scary.

Really telling that those that even question the restrictions or seek to debate them are labelled as "whiners and cry babies".

They have no legitimate response to any of the above so they have to resort to name calling.

    Hold firm
I have genuinely never hated two words as much in my life as I hate these.

    Legitimate response sans name calling:

Case numbers are much higher than this time last year and they continue to rise. Our vaccination program (while progressing well) is not yet at the stage where we should be reducing restrictions.

Case numbers are very low in Sligo, Leitrim, Cork and Kerry.

Why isn't a regional approach even being considered?

Lap it up people. Wait until the headlines the week before the final restrictions are due to be lifted; "Vacinated person tests positive for covid after expiry"

We need to keep restrictions until the elderly are boosted.

We never were. The public sector for example.

I don't know that it's not being considered but either way my guess, this is a National problem and we have a minority cohort that have decided the restrictions don't apply to them and would simply ignore any regional restrictions.

It's a genuine shame, I'd have no issue advocating for regional restrictions otherwise.

You mean the sector nurses work in is it ?

Well then you need to put on the green jersey, keep the messaging on message and don't deviate from the narrative, also pivot where appropriate

Ah cut it out will you!! If you must blame somebody blame the likes of MM and the worst set of politicians we're ever been saddled with.

I'm public sector and I'm going absolutely insane and for the first time in my life finding myself trying to ward off depression. Public and private, we're all being fed to the wolves here and our concerns callously disregarded by the all powerful NPHET and their minions, our cringe inducing politicians.

So go point the finger in the right place.

Minority cohort? I don't really think its even a minority at this stage. Don't worry, you'll see it for what it is eventually, hopefully.

How can you expect anyone to take your posts seriously when you’re comparing numbers now to when we were doing f**k all testing?

    I really despair.

Were you put on the Pandemic unemployment payment?

I'd say you were never left a cent short. In fact didn't the public sector get a pay rise a few months back

Go away out of that. Shielded from the economic fallout

Exactly, it should be both possible and practical but the usual ‘cute hoors’ would ruin it for everyone by rushing into the open counties and then blame anyone but themselves when it goes t*ts up.

I'm reminded of Oliver Cromwell's famous words to the Rump Parliament in 1653:

"You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately. Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"

Chrst on a bike. You invoke a puritanical Bible bashing genocidal maniac as inspiration for letting covid rip?

    Good one ...

That should be of concern to all of us if that's the case.

    Exactly.

I don't see anyway around it, enforcement hasn't exactly proved to be a strong point so far.

When you realise how incompetent the government are in keeping us, citizens of this country and human beings at the end of the day, in an eternal lockdown you'll feel pretty hard done by.

And when you go wherever you want to, without anybody stopping you, you'll probably be annoyed with yourself for not doing it sooner.
