Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am thinking about fitting acoustic insulation on some of the walls of my house. Did anybody ever get it done? Do you find it was worth it? And/or can recommend a local small builder to do such job.

    Thanks in advance.

Soundproofing is like a black art,I don’t know of any builders that would specialise in that work.
Maybe seek out companies that do recording studios or cinemas but I’m sure they wouldn’t be interested in domestic work but might point you to an acoustician who could draw up plans for a builder to follow but be warned that the costs involved are huge

As Aziz points out, acoustics is specialist work, not for any builder big or small to come up with ideas. You could spend a small fortune and be no better off. Sounds travels in untought of ways to the untrained.

Is it party wall soundproofing you want? What kind of build is it? Check if it is hollow block. There are Dublin companies who are very good that would do this in waterford but it is slow to get them

Yes it is the wall dividing two semi-detached houses. It is plasterboard stud I think it is called. Do you happen to have the names of these companies in Dublin? Thanks

Have a look what is behind the board by seeing how it continues into the attic. The extent that it can be improved depends but generally it is easier in places where the soundproofing is terrible. Where the soundproofing is not bad and not great, improvements are harder to do achieve.

Cunas is great but they have a large waiting list. Really nice people though.
