We currently have a PowerPoint SaorviewConnect box with a few years.
It has being a right pain since we got it. It occasional crashes, very slow, I couldn't edit the channel list.
The remote doesn't seem to be working now.
I'm essentially looking for something to plug in and do an auto tune, scan and have channels installed.
    Any recommendations?

I watch the Saorview channels on the TV

Have a Freesat hdr for satellite channels
Freesat Records, serial link, simple to step up.

Have RTE Player, TG4 Player and Virgin media player if we need to rewatch anything on the Saorview channels

    Simple

    Thanks for that.
Have you any link to a good recording free sat box?

I've an older TV and it's not saorview ready.

Just out of interest, how do you get the VM player. I use a Now stick at the moment, to access the VM Player.

Yes, use Roku device for rte and virgin players.

Also have a Firestick which brings in TG4 Player.
Firestick doesn't have rte or virgin, but has Eurosport app.

Chromcast may also work on these app from your phone with a modern TV.

I have a cheap 65inch 4k HDR tv Hitachi (vestel) very happy with it but very little smart apps.

Also have a Sony Android TV, (was my Dad's, rip) and the young lad uses it for gaming.
But the Sony TV is excellent can get all the apps, no stick needed, but the Sony is expensive to buy.
The Sony also has a satellite FTA tuner, but Freesat hdr is much easier.

If you plan on getting a new TV, Saorview compatible, the first way I described is best.

However if you are sticking with your old TV, a combi Saorview/Satellite receiver may be best.
However not as good for recording, no serial link. You also must add a hard drive.
You must watch what you record, while the recording is happening.

Powercity do a Saorview Walker Combi, for 89Euro.

Freesat.ie is a shop in Fairview, Dublin
Michael the owner is very nice and helpful, you could check out that website also, see what he has.

Are most TV’s sold in Ireland Sairview ready?
Do you just plug your arial into the Tab and do an auto scan and have channels?

Generally yes, but I would confirm with the seller first.

The TV would ask for Country on set up, Ireland should be in the list.

Auto tune and away you go

Saorview.ie website for further details also
