They were one of the nicest Corolla's pity about that extension NCT lark, tennis ball clutch is another one to look out for on them especially with that mileage. At 950 he's hardly robbing anyone.

Is it just me or are they going up in price? I've a petrol one here, same year hatchback, scruffier but I'd snap someone's hand off for 500euro.

Everything seems to be creeping up alright, in saying that I wouldn't be taking Al Hayes's asking prices as an exact barometer as to how the market is performing...

It’s booked in for a motor-trade NCT anyway. Watch this space.

NCT til May 2022, some amount of tax, 60k miles, 1.6 auto, €950

    Definitely would!

I think only the automatics had the Honda engine?

Took in a lovely 45 1.6 manual with a full tank as a trade in before, drove it to nearly empty - they were a decent enough car. Obviously old fashioned at the time even.

Suzuki Swift 1.5 with decent chunk of NCT and tax until October. Asking €950. I’ve always liked these and they still look fresh imo

NCT til February 2022, tax til September, €750

If I was having one of these it'd really have to be a TDI, but I'd settle for this

Not sure what they mean by "Car from new", as they're the 3rd owner, having bought it very recently
Transferred to an Individual on: 02/03/2021
    Notified on: 03/03/2021

I'd mark it as a possible lemon, or something has gone very wrong with it, so they're looking to get rid ASAP? Also, what do you mean about "some amount of tax"? I only see that the tax expired March this year?

I'm guessing that the current seller got it for a song from an elderly owner and is just selling it on. Seller probably read "1" under J9 on the (old) logbook and convinced himself it was a one owner car, common mistake, but it actually means one previous owner, two in total.

The ad mentions "taxed" so it was fair to assume that there is some amount of tax remaining, or it has just been re-taxed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,152 ✭✭✭26000 Elephants

For 600 or 700 quid that rover would be grand. Seller might take first "in person" offer backed by cash, but i'd say the car is RAF in the flesh, up close - but I'd still give it it a go. Those seats seem to be in great shape - unusual for these.

It looks to me like it broke down back up the road and was pushed to its final resting place. Would be a very dodgy buy.

To be fair it was only nctd today. I'd say it was picked up cheap, sent through the test lane and pulled up as soon as possible for pictures

My first thought was it was probably owned by an old dear alright as the rear bodywork has some mild battle damage from someone not able to manage parking it, that and it being a low mileage 4 speed auto. Bonus is it has a/c as well as a sunroof which would have been a rare feature on them back in the day.

They do mention the car was only used when home on holiday. Maybe they overlooked SORN the car when they were abroad for a few periods of time and used the transfer of owner trick. Just a potential suggestion of how it may actually have had one owner from new.

A tad over a week. Of nominal value but will get you over a hump until you get it taxed yourself if you want to hop into a car ready to go ensuring all your discs on the windscreen are up to date - that is important to some people and a traffic warden can and some certainly will fine you if your tax is even a day out of date and parked on a public road.

This seems like a good bet! I know someone in politics who bought a new 407 in 2006 and still has it today!

It's sickening to think that you can tax that in the UK for 330 pounds. As opposed to being robbed blind here.

The lift back would be my favourite! There are 2 super tidy ones knocking around locally here - I'm always amazed at how fresh they can look when cared for.

(I see that one still has its factory Padre Pio sticker. Bonus!)

As a serial Corolla botherer they are probably my favourite too, but I had an estate that was great as well.
