Well you give Trump more credit than I do. Might be simply that he forgot the real name and used that instead. I think that's more likely than him being intelligent and calculating while on stage.

You added intelligent, he is many things and I’m absolutely sure calculating is one of them. He didn’t get where he was by not having some innate understanding of how his words will be perceived. I don’t think he’s particularly intelligent but he’s shrewd enough. He said many ridiculous things and you only have to look at how they were perceived by his fans to see how he knew what he was at. Having people to blame is American conservatives excuse for how their own lives are and it’s always easier to blame people who are different than face the truth. He knows that and plays up to it.

He can follow a strategy if it is simple enough. Whether he decided or someone else decided to not use the proper name it was likely decided behind closed doors first. Like Build the wall or lock her up he can keep on task with a basic slogan to blame someone else.

'China virus' was 100% Trump and 100% planned.

    Things? What about diseases??

Zika virus - Zika forest in Uganda
    Lyme disease - Lyme, Connecticut
    Spanish Flu - Spain
Ebola virus - Ebola river in Africa

Theres probably more. but four well know diseases or viruses whos common names are all named after locations. Obviously not named after the exact location of source in all cases, such as the Spanish flu as said earlier was first reported in Spain but some state its origin could have been USA or China, France or Britain.

Also, early on in the Covid19 pandemic many news agencies including MSNBC and CNN referred to it as the China corona virus or Wuhan corona virus.

    .

How many people from Lyme or the Zika forest have been attacked due to their association with the original location of that specific disease? Stupid comparison. The attempts by some posters to absolve Trump of responsibility is embarrassing. By the way, the Spanish flu didn't originate in Spain.

It doesn't matter what it is. It originated in China and as such the China virus is a good descriptor of what it actually is.
Just because Trump said it doesn't mean it's xenophobic.
I'm not defending Trump here in any way.

Trump clearly meant to use it in a xenophobic manner in an attempt to blame China for the virus. He routinely also called it Kung-Flu which is just blatantly racist. Trump's use of it wasn't innocent.

See my post above where Spanish flu is called Spanish flu

Nothing in the post you quoted is in any way absolving Trump of anything.
I don't know if the poster is a Trump fan but I'm certainly not.
I'm just pointing out that the virus originated in China so calling it the China virus is not xenophobic, it's just a descriptor.
People being attacked over it is a mixture of racism and stupidity, I'd personally believe those two things go hand in hand. You gotta be stupid to be racist imo.

Meanwhile assaults against Asians have gone up as a result of rhetoric about the virus. That's not remotely amusing imho.

Indeed and we know how many stupid, racist people Trump appeals to. As Biden said, "words matter."

"My brother replied that there were over 3,800 incidents of anti-Asian violence last year, yet you didn’t check on us. The friend said he didn’t know. My brother said, of course not—because no one besides us Asians cared. But now that you see a perp is a white male from the South, you start to care. You have to make this about YOU making a political statement rather than really caring about us, the Asian Americans."

People have been calling out that Trump's rhetoric would lead to increased violence against Asians in the US for a year at this point. However a mass murderer does make bigger headlines than smaller incidents. Shocker.

walking down ramps not so much.

Unbelievable that the media were talking about that very incident for weeks on end, question's about Trump's health etc, but yet nothing about Biden tripping and stumbling like a drunk the last day

Nothing? It was reported on that’s how people heard about and saw it.

Because Trump kept going on about it and drawing attention to it. A full week after the ramp he spent nearly 15 minutes talking about it at a rally and trying to explain that he actually ran down the ramp. :pac: Thereafter he routinely brought it up at numerous rallies. Him continuing to talk about it kept it in the news.

To be fair he said he ran the last 10 feet and that they didn’t show that, which of course ‘they’ then did and in a less than surprising turn of events he hadn’t.

How did you hear about it if there was 'nothing' about it?

Honestly, the lies that come out of your fingers are laughable. It was widely covered.

As well as that, as if it means anything. Find me one person who hasn't stumbled arse over tit up a flight of stairs and I'll find you another one that says they're lying.
