    How does one go about arranging a ranger visit ? I only see a service center as an option in the app , which is a no go with the lockdown.

    One of my side cameras has gone.

    Set up a SC visit in the app, and then they will determine if the Ranger can solve your issue.

    I've drove out side my 5K zone for car related issues/servicing. I think that's allowed.

    I would assume Long Range would be needed to cover a 305km journey on mostly motorway without experiencing a range induced panic attack along the way? Assuming that you are not going to stop for a charge, of course.

    Model 3 is due for delivery tomorrow! Tesla have asked me to sign an “EV customer transaction completion form” in advance of delivery if possible.

    My question is should I sign this before I’ve seen the car?
    Does this waive my right to reject the car?
    If I don’t sign, will it hold up delivery?

    There was one form for the SEAI a day or two before delivery that I signed and sent back . The morning of delivery I got a an email to digitally sign my acceptance of the car I signed that about 30 min after delivery

    Ok, this seems to be in relation to the SEAI Grant. I just remember people saying there was something to sign in on the day of delivery to accept the car and was unsure if this was it. Thanks.

    Ideally yes, but if this was an infrequent journey &/or there was good charging infrastructure on route, I'd opt to save the extra cost & make do with the standard range.

    A 15 minute stop to top up, once/twice a month, would be well worth the €10k+ savings to me.

    I traverse the country by motorway for work in a SR+ and have never bought into the whole 'range anxiety' BS.

    I have cut it tight on several occasions (1-2%) but this was planned. If you are cutting it fine you simply need to slow down and drive conservatively. Learning to use the trip energy consumption graph on a long journey is brillant to manage this very well as it will track & display your actual vs projected consumption.

    Like an ICE fuel tank, I also assume that there is a (very) small amount in reserve after hitting zero in case you need to limp it for a couple of km. Plenty of vids on Youtube that demonstrate this.

    Best tip I received was to set the battery display as a % and not km (range). The biggest factor in energy consumption is driving style. Motorway driving will also be temperature & weather dependent and you are going to lose a whole lot of efficiency when you start punching above 110km/h.

    Planning is very straight forward. Typically I rely heavily on the ESB ecars app, locating the nearest 50kW charger (or the occasional 150kW charger) along my route. Plug that into the nav system, check your remaining % (also check how much to return) and go. Will also try to locate a backup incase the charger is busy. Superchargers take all that stress away, along with the occasional Ionity charger (I dont whinge about the price as its occasional use and is super convenient for me).

    Autopilot is at its best on the motorway and does make long journeys easier, but you still need to be prepared for the unexpected regardless. I've seen plenty of scary stuff over the years and you don't want to be deep into your phone if a 30 tonne truck suddenly swerves into your lane while your doing 120kmh. Nothing can replace driver fatigue other than stopping for break. A quick top up on 300km journey allows for a quick break to stretch the legs and a toilet break. Learn to be courteous & patient at chargers. Most owners are up for the craic to discuss their tips.

    Will be a great summer for motoring around the country!

    If you have premium connectivity (or even if you connect the car to your phone hotspot), the car's web browser is great for checking eCars availability while on the move.

    I have it saved as a favourite, so I simply open the web browser, and select eCars from the favourites list.. it loads and then asks if it can use my current location.. once you tap 'allow' it then opens the eCars map on your location, and you can see the chargers around your location.. simply tap a charger to check it's availability..

    Unfortunately not.

    You decide which charger you will use, then go back and select it from the cars Nav.

    I simply use the eCars web browser to see if a charger is available or not. (Meaning the phone stays in the pocket)

    Another option is to share in the ESB App (on your phone) to your car, indirectly using Googlemaps sharing.
    1. In the ESB eCars app, select your charger location and then press the Arrow/Direction icon in top right hand corner.

    2. Share menu should open - select Googlemaps.

    3. Googlemaps should open with directions from your location - Hit the red location pin. Share button should appear - choose this.

    4. Sharing menu should open - scroll through to find the Tesla app, choose this and it will send the directions to your Tesla and your done.

    I have noticed in the last day or two that the app take an age to wake up (averaging 70 seconds). Is anyone else experiencing this ?



    I am on an iPhone and noticed an app update available last night. Updated it hoping the problem would be solved but it isn't.

    Its not a case of the app taking a while to wake up, but rather the car..... and then the car making that connection with the app, sometimes it stall's

    I find that if the car/app doesn't wake up after about 20 seconds, I'll force close the app and retry, and it's usually fine then...

    This happens me only if the car hasn't been driven in a few hours. It says "Waking Up" and takes about 30 seconds.

    For me it was that the driver rang as he was leaving Sandyford (assuming you are in the Dublin/surrounding counties area). Got to me at approx 6.30.

    Arrived at about 5:30. Driver gave me a call around 5 min away. Looking great so far. Don’t see any obvious issues. Arrived with a 98% charge! Apparently I would have been first on his delivery this morning but the car was penned in at sandyford, so he took another car to Galway instead.

    Was pretty apprehensive about it all not being able to test drive. But it’s a fantastic car to drive.

    Bug fixes probably.

    I'm still waiting for the "fix" Elon announced, 3 months ago, to revert the speedometer size back &/or allow customization of the screen layout/GUI, to fix it.
    As always, Elon must work on Mars time - he is now a King too, so there's that :D.

    It's not accruing much mileage these days anyway, so no hurry.

    I got the update this morning, and it seems like they’ve fecked with the heating again......

    Normally my sweet spot was a setting between 19-20 degrees. Not at 20 degrees it feels very cold, and I had to increase it to 21 degrees to get any sort of comfort.....
