Esb meter box do I have to move it

Hi all ,extending garage at side of house ,forward by 2metres,using existing wall of house for one side which houses the esb meter ,question is can I leave the meter so that when garage is finished it will be inside garage or do I have to move it to outside garage door ,if I had to move it literally taking out and moving along wall to outside door would be about 3ft ,would it be expensive go do if I have to. Thanks.

Are you rewiring house as part of intended works?

Hi ,house was rewired back in 2006, rang esb network today,said I can leave it in place, and ultimately being inside garage ,only thing that would change is access to meter reading so not a problem,as long as I am not interfering with any underground cables during extending the garage forward they said it would be ok.
