I remember a day when a bangernomics car used to have a useable amount of NCT.

There is a fixer-upper thread for yokes that owners are jumping ship on.

Brand new NCT done this morning on this 2007 CLK. Diesel and Auto. Confusing price, very cheap for some reason. Worth a call for a gamble? €1,500 or €2,200

Saab 93 Convertible, NCT 08/21. Manual, love it or loath it. Great value IMO at €1,500. These have bottomed out in price, will either stay stable or increase. Not as desirable as it's predecessor, but this one is a good mix of old school and a modern driver. I have one of these as a 5-door and they're very capable cars.

It's a rather unique sales pitch in fairness to increase the price of a car by 50% whilst at the same time not including the wheels in the newly increased price.

I wish the new owner the very best of luck.

With 1 owner it seems well looked after. Based in Tipp so likely a motorway commute and works out around 300ish miles a week which isnt too massive. Wouldn't worry me for that particular car if I was currently in the market for one.

Should that mileage be a concern?
Ah assuming the seller is being straight and honest about it always being very well maintained the mileage wouldn't be a major concern to me. Sisters 07' has in around the same mileage I think if not more and the engine and mechanical's seem to be smooth as silk in it.

A few issues she had on it are radio giving issues - had to be changed as was making bizzare, what she thought to be worrying noises and severe heat coming from it - I never seen it happen but it worried her enough to change it at the time and it was in no way cheap. The central upper dashboard display completely gave up around the same time and never worked since (the two issues could be related). The catalytic converter gave up soon after she bought it but that may have being caused by the previous owner leaving a spark plug or ignition coil go unchecked for a period of time or something like that.

More recently a leak around the drives door has caused a problem with the central locking shorting out and causing the battery to go flat if left unchecked. There has always being a leak into the boot which we could never get to the bottom of. Lately I have noticed some rust appearing where the roof joins the windscreen.

Think I'm being very thorough with the issues she has had with the car and she may have being unlucky with her car itself. Otherwise from a mechanical point of view it has being a peach.

Sorry for long post... hopefully it will be of use to anyone interested in picking up one of these more than anything else.

I think a petrol Honda properly serviced would take huge mileage.

I sold a 95 civic in 04 with 200k miles or so to a friend, he had it for nearly 10 years after.

Car was sold by Kinnane and probably serviced by him. In truth oil and filters is all it's probably needed

I think I had 260kkm on mine when I sold it and it was going like the clappers. It’s taxed and NCTd - so safe to say it’s still going.
I was servicing it every 10kkm with good oil though, but they’re a very robust car so I’d say they’ll take neglect.

Don’t know why seller has switched the speedo display from km to miles.. maybe for the NCT.

They generally don't tend to be too well received here on the forum but I know there are a few posters who have experience of them and would claim that much of the bad publicity is unjustified. Personally speaking to a few owners in the past they generally have a good word on them also. There are of course no shortage of horror stories out there too.

Always thought they were a handsome and nicely finished car in the upper specs but that generally won't be near the primary concern at this end of the market.

Seem like they can handle the high mileage pretty well..
A few issues she had on it are radio giving issues - had to be changed as was making bizzare, what she thought to be worrying noises and severe heat coming from it - I never seen it happen but it worried her enough to change it at the time and it was in no way cheap. This is what happens to the radio and display. see here for more info.

People just change out the radio for a single or double din. It's easier in the long run as these issues are so common.

The leak in the boot is usually the roof rails and/or the rear lights.

Rust is also a common issue above the windshield, the rubber essentially 'cuts' into the metal and then rust sets in. It can get pretty bad if left untreated.

A saab convertible was always on the bucket list of cars to own as a summer weekend driver but unfortunately I have no where to store in the off season so until I do pick up storage facility it's another one that's going to have to wait :D

They are electric/hydraulic. Its a pretty big roof.

Usually fairly reliable if they dont spring small hydraulic leaks.

It's odd how the leaver for moving the front passenger seat forward to let someone in the back of that 9-3 is on the wrong side of the front passenger seat. Never bothered changing it for RHD markets I'd guess or was that passenger seat actually replaced with a driver's seat.

If it was a driver's seat wouldn't the seat belt buckle be on the wrong side also?

They have a lever on both sides of the passenger seat, it’s so the driver can move the passenger seat.

I think i remember there being 2 of them, one for the driver to flip the seat forward.

Drove 2 09 Civics 2.2 diesel, plenty of poke in both but drove like a pile of scrap. Drove 08 golf 1.9 tdi far more miles but drove like a solid nice car. Absolutely no comparison.

Brother loves Civics, wife has 131 1.6 diesel now that's streets ahead of the older model.
