Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know if the water is safe for swimming? I know it has previously had a no-swim notice issued but plenty of people in the water this morning and lifeguard hut on the path? Not sure I'd chance it either way but just curious!

That beach has always had trouble maintaining a clean streak, which is a pity as its a lovely spot.

The water quality can fluctuate for no obvious reason at times too, going from "Excellent" to "Poor" to "Excellent" again. The unfortunate thing is though you only know about the "Poor" result after the sample has been taken and tested. Its could have been "poor" for several days preceding the sample

Honestly, I wouldn't go near it for swimming until it had a year or two of clear results

Advertiser story saying it should be cleared this summer, apparently because some local politicians had a meeting which kind of begs the question why they waited this long to do so but hey ho: https://www.advertiser.ie/galway/article/119742/swimming-expected-to-be-allowed-at-ballyloughane-beach-this-summer

Not unusual to see something like that in the papers and yet, year in, year out, it gets closed.

Like I said above, I wouldn't be going for a swim there unless there has been 2 full years of clear results

One question I have about this beach is why there is regularly fruit washed up on it. Pineapples, oranges, mangos all appear there on a fairly regular basis.
