Water pump in attic

    Hi all,

    I’m wondering if you can help with an issue I have with my water pump. I have a submersible water pump that keeps going off by itself every 10 mins. I have noticed that more water seems to be coming from the overflow at the side of the house. Could this be linked to the issue with the water pump. I say this as I can’t find any sign of any leaks in my house and am at a loss as to why the pump keeps kicking in. The pump is not linked to the toilet and is linked to shower, bath and sinks taps.

    There should not be any water from the overflow, unless the ball valve isn't working, in which case it needs sorting.

    You might have other problems, but you need to sort out the obvious ones first.

    Thanks for the reply... would the overflow have anything g to do with the pump kicking in every few minutes?

    Yes and might be exacerbated by expansion vessel or pressure switch problems.

    Sounds like it could be a sticking flow switch.

    Anything that causes water to come out of the overflow in the attic needs investigating immediately, as the overflow is an indicator that something is wrong - it will not have the capacity to stop your tank overflowing into the attic.
