    Hi,

i dislocated my shoulder about 13 years ago. and 5 times since.

Once its put back in - no real pain or bruising or swelling. and all as normal, until i do something stupid and it pops out again.

Im 41 now, and wondering if I should get surgery to keep it from popping out.

Anyone here had the surgery done - and was it worth it?

See attached poll for those who got surgery, and worked out good, or was not worth it.

Iv got the surgery done to prevent should from dislocating , and it was : 4 votes

very much worth getting done, shoulder much more stable

it's better not to joke with this, because this health in old age will be even worse. go to a specialist and let you prescribe the necessary treatment

I mean this in the nicest possible way, stop doing stupid stuff. Even with surgery there is no guarantee it will work. Face facts (like myself) you're no longer 21 (no matter what your brain tells you) and with age comes the joys of injuries taking longer and longer to heal.

Get the surgery. You should have had it after the 2nd or 3rd time.

Ignore all those who say stop doing stupid things. They must live a boring life.

I am in my 20s and I got it done around 4 years ago now. One of the best decisions I've ever made, feels infinitely more secure now. Had open surgery so now have two small pins / screws holding it in place

Not sure what you mean by 'stupid things' but I don't play much contact sports anymore, gives me no trouble in lifting, stretching, swimming / the odd bang at 5 a side
