I think the newer trailer of GnG does it a little more justice. The movement looks a bit iffy but the presentation I'm starting to come round to, the bosses especially look quite good imo.
SIffy movement is part of GnG's charm, I would've thought. The only thing Arthur commits to more than Princess Prin Prin is a goddamn jump, he ain't adjusting even slightly the second he leaves the ground.

He looks a bit like a marionette.

Now that I've said that, there is a Nintendo Game Of The Year: Mario-nette. :):)

I have it on the PSP in a couple of guises.
The arcade original and the Snes version are on a Capcom compilation.
And then I've got Ultimate Ghouls'n Ghosta and the separately released Gokumakaimura Kai, which is an enhanced Japan only version of Ultimate.

    I'm terrible at them all!

Never played 3D World, how does it rate against Mario Galaxy or Odyssey?

Probably not quite as good, but if you've not played it before and like them, you'll love this too. I finished it on WiiU and still picked it up again on Switch.

Nice one. Might give it a go so. Surely worth 50 quid for a 3D World noob

Bowser's Fury feels very much like Odyssey in terms of setup, but the bulk of 3D World feels more like halfway between 2D Mario and 3D Mario - think fixed camera angles (though you can rotate through 45-degree iterations in some cases), timed levels with start and end points, and an overworld.

Smyths have a few Switch game reduced but nothing really too exciting. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered at €19.99 isn't bad though.

I think it stands up to them. If you like those games and 2d Mario games you'll love it.

Different type of game. It's like 2.5D - you don't have the type of freedom typical of most 3D games. Personally I wasn't a big fan of it - I stopped around midway through the 2nd world - it felt like a whole lot of bells and whistles but without much substance underneath in terms of gameplay. The gameplay just felt very generic and predictable to me. I wouldn't say it's a bad game - just not the level of quality you'd expect from a 3d Mario game - and nowhere near in the same league as Galaxy or Odyssey IMO. Granted I didn't play the whole thing through obviously :) I've heard multiplayer adds some enjoyment if you plan to play with others, but otherwise I'd give it a miss unless you're happy enough to enjoy a pretty generic Mario experience - albeit one that's very pretty to look at :)

Sound. I had great craic with a buddy and his son on the wii u years back playing coop on a Mario game, cant remember if it was 3D World or New Super Mario Bros. Herself isn't a gamer at all but does like Mario and some fun coop would be good rather than watching crap on TV. Coop in Odyssey isn't up to much really.

3d world is great. Might seem shallow at first but it's got a lot of subtle things which draw you in. Like having to guide multiple Marios around without loosing any to open doors; the micro games; the toad levels; the pure arcade 2d feel with a beautiful presentation; the beat block levels; the circus/trapeze levels; the music; the collectables; multi player; and cat mario. Do not underestimate cat mario. It'll fly past to the end. Then you've got the really challenging levels. And you get Bowser's fury now. Absolute cracker of a game. IMHO :)

I call 3D World "Cat Mario" and Super Bros U "Squirrel Mario" just to keep them clear in my head.

Cat Mario's good. I've beaten it start to finish three times, once on my own and twice co-op with other people. I've never unlocked the final secret world though because the requirements are ridiculous

This may seem odd - but I don’t enjoy 3D Mario games half as much as I do 2D ones.

Playing Super Mario Land on the virtual console with my son and he’s repeatedly said it’s the best Mario game he’s played.

He enjoyed Luigi’s Mansion 3 more than Odyssey and Galaxy. Obviously loves Mario Kart 8 and loved New Super Mario Bros on my old DS.

Interested to see what he makes of Mario ‘2.5D’.

As an aside - what do people think is the best co-op Mario game I could get for the switch?

    3d world has co-op.

I think this stuff needs to go to a different thread. This thread is for Nintendo bargains. My bad.

Thinking about getting this for my 8yo daughter for her birthday. I have a normal switch myself which she enjoys playing Mario Kart and Odyssey. Am I right in thinking if I setup the switch lite with my account and all my games will be available on it. Also is there any word on netflix being supported on the switch?

Also includes 3 months Nintendo online. Nice!
Looks like the Coral one is out of stock

No word on Netflix, there is youtube but I'm very surprised there's no youtube kids version for switch

    Great deal

Has anyone played AER Memories of Old? It is down to €1.99 in Ireland or €1.65 in Russia. Looks like a nice game, but also looks like it could be really short although I am not sure where I got that impression..

I'm deciding on spending my remaining coins between this, which looks nice and relaxing, or Death Ray Manta, which looks far from relaxing.

The Witcher 3 without the 2 expansion packs is down to 24 euro on the eshop, worth it?

    The complete edition is 36.

Have you played Witcher 3 before? If not, do you have access to literally any other system?

Nope and nope. I thought my lad would look for the Xbox series X so I'd have inherited his Xbox one but no, so Switch is it for me.

Definitely. I spent the guts of a year playing it. Not all the time but I'd play a bit most evenings. Still haven't touched the expansion packs but I'm glad I have them to look forward to.
It's a lot of game for that price. I prefer playing handheld anyway so it the Switch version suited me best.
