Coaches must be fcking pulling their hair out with all that line of defense bar shaw. :(

AWB offering no help or overlap to James. Lazy as sin.
McGuire with a dog and duck headed clearance. Matic slow as a boat. And Martial I give up

Think people are being incredibly harsh blaming maguire for that header. Thought it was actually a very good header defensive header but I’d need to see it again. I think it was martial who got sucked in and lost his man but need to see it again.

Fred and Matic been the weak link for us.
I thought the same. It's been a poor performance but Maguires header is well down the list of complaints I have.

    Who's the bt co-comm?

Blaming everyone but Maguire for their part in the goal.

It was an organisational mess as ever though most of all

Did you see the piece on BT before the game? Scholes talking about the weakness of Lindelof while showing Maguire falling over at the slightest touch to try win a free against Everton and West Brom, which we almost conceded from. It's baffling.

United doing their best to match Liverpool’s run. They thumped palace 7-0 and their form collapsed. We best Southampton 9-0 and our form has been similarly shocking.

Some suggest its fatigue but Why aren’t Leicester knackered? They are in Europe and don’t exactly have a massive squad as far as I can tell.

English bias at its very worst.

They have one of the best managers in Europe which helps.

    Let's not go overboard!

Maguire is getting the blame and I see no reason to defend him but the majority of the team is too passive and happy to stand off people.

Maguire trys to clear everything and ends up as the one who makes the mistakes but he is far from on his own.

We have seen lots of examples of the same defending that cost points v Sheff Utd, Everton and WBA. Stand off, ball watch, marking space but not players.

Look how many players are pretty much standing still when Maguire heads it, Fred only one who really trys to do anything.

Fred & Matic midfield is offering nothing going forward. Shouldnt be playing 2 CDMs at home to Newcastle but with no Pogba, McTominay or VDB , we don’t have too many options

Mata should be playing this type of game

It's been mentioned by many of us, we are in the downcycle period of oles United again in the never ending wheel. Just how much damage will be inflicted is the only question, we don't actually have an attacking pattern or tactic, get the ball to Bruno or Rashford and cross your fingers isn't an acceptable tactical approach.

    100%

It's been an all round diabolical yet wildly predicatble half.

    Nothing happening bar Rashford goal.

Game is crying out for a Mata IMO, make something happen, Greenwood on the pitch too to run at that defence.

Everything so passive so far and incredible frustrating.

Martial is the most frustratingly consistent player I've seen at United, maybe ever.

    Mason for Martial.

    Amad for James.

It's Steve Bruce's Newcastle for the love of fcuk.

I did not. And it's been by biggest gripe around it all. Maguire seems to be above criticism, which doesn't serve anyone well. He won't learn from his mistakes if they're always being written off as someone else's.

When it comes to being bullied Lindelof gets more of it than Maguire tbf

As average as Maguire is I'd keep him over any other CB at United

I agree with the overarching point and can only imagine the outrage in some corners if another guy was still managing the team and we set up like this but to be fair to both of them they have played some good balls into the forward and he just stands there.

I dunno how many more times Ole needs to see this from Martial.

Would nearly throw on Henderson for de Gea....might wake him up a bit!!!

Henderson steady as a rock midweek compared to de Gea tonight.

I think it was Thursday night they were talking about the captaincy, Scholes wouldn't mention any kind of criticism about Maguire. Scholes was a phenomenon player but as a pundit he is awful especially when it comes to criticism about United

this playing out from the back **** doesnt work. why continue it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,223 ✭✭✭KH25

I don’t think Maguire is anything more than average, but it’s not just him that’s the problem. Our defence is completely disorganised and constantly looks shaky under pressure. The marking at set pieces is consistently crap. Yes the players are at fault for that, but equally so are the coaching staff. It seems like we just persist with the same ideas every game in the hope that everything just works. It’s infuriating.

It's amazing how many teams not worth a fck we make look like madrid.

Bankok be on now with teams that "lift" themselves to play us.

The defence needs a leader, that's what was expected when maguire was bought I assume but that's one thing he's not
