Neither the RTE reporter or Michael Martin suggested that summer was in April. They are planning to make decisions in April for the summer.

In Dec folk could go to restaurants so every restaurant in the country was jammed full of folk....... it was lunacy

We are and we aren't, if you excuse the phrase. If this was a virus people were mortally afraid of then we would isolate. At this stage I think everyone in the country knows some one who has had the virus and is now fine (personally I know 6 people including some very close relatives). So we weigh the risks and move on

We are not being allowed to weigh the risks and move on.

If some people want to wear masks stay 2m apart not travel work from home etc I say let them.

I don't want to and shouldn't be forced to.

What MM actually said in the RTE article is given in inverted commas. The rest of it is the journos own

April is not the MIDDLE of summer.

They'll probably want incidence and hospital numbers down and restrictions on airports but the vast majority of us won't be restricted if they get their way

Can anyone here honestly see much sense in having level 5 for so long? The cases were low last summer and now vaccines. What is the logic behind this?

But their is no evidence of this at all.

Looks like restrictions will start to be rolled back before that all things going well.

It's not bad to be honest........ someone gave Belarus as a great example as their pubs are open..... the data suggests that their covid problem is getting worse not better.

Some Irish sneering at the situation here is pretty daft IMO after what we saw in Dec/Jan when Paddy got some freedom. That was a sh1tshow

No one is sneering or laughing at Belarus. It is a country suffering badly.

Now people swallowing whatever fairytale suits their agenda is a different matter.

And holding up their PM as a bastion of truth is equally hilarious.

I detect a growing dissatisfaction among the people I know with the relentless lockdowns. If we as individuals state our dissatisfaction to as many people in our own circles, though personal contacts, What App groups etc. as possible, the politicians will react quickly imo.

They have reported 9 deaths every day for the past week.

What are the chances?
