No unfortunately not, that was my tongue firmly in cheek comment above. Planning was refused in Carlow after a few notable locals kicked up a fuss and stirred up the whole teams of cyclists at break neck speeds killing small children ****e. That and it should be left a natural walk way even though it is a man made walk way

Well, that's pretty shīt. I assumed they'd continue to St. Mullins

A grand soft day for a swim spin :D btw the river is actually on the right behind that hedge.

It's usually crosswinds that are a concern not cross currents :p

It did feel like that alright and those days are a distant memory, I couldn't run up the stairs now. :D

i remember hearing a story from a friend who used to be in the fingal ravens, about going out on a spin soon after one of the bypasses was built near the blanchardstown shopping centre. it had flooded under the flyover, so the group took the off ramp and then the on ramp to avoid the flooding, except one chap (i think either brian connaughton or phillip cassidy, can never remember which) cycled straight through it, and it was deep enough to come up to his brake levers. but he kept on trucking.

That spot floods regularly and can get pretty deep alright - deep enough that it wouldn't be safe for small cars to proceed. Don't remember any bad flooding for about 5 years but the last time it happened with any great vigour you could see stranded cars left on the verge.

They've completed the path from Robertsown to Rathangan, and I believe they'll shortly start the stretch from Rathangan to Monasterevin, eventually to reach Athy. Is there a plan to continue on to Carlow, do you know?

Is this doable on a road bike with 25c tyres. Is it fully tarmac

There's actually still a section of grass along the way, but the rest of the track is gravel/hardcore. No tarmac at all. Wouldn't chance it on 25's to be honest

If you don't mind Gwildor can I ask, do you use the recumbent bicycle due to neccessity or desire? How are they to cycle and do you get any hassle using it on the greenway during busy periods?

I've always wanted to give one a go they're supposed to skip along.

Don’t mind at all... I have Ménière’s disease that affects my balance.
It’s fantastic to cycle. I wouldn’t go back to a diamond frame bike now, even if I could. I can fairly shift along on it, and go for much, much longer with no pains. Like riding an armchair. I get zero hassle on the Greenway. It’s no wider than handlebars on a mountain bike really. If anything, people are quite interested in it.

That's cool to hear. I saw another recumbent on the green one week day but it was slightly higher more like a chair on the cross bar than the go kart style of your one.

Great to get out whatever it takes. You'll have to get a little roof manufactured for it :D

Stop! I’ve already been told I’m not allowed to have it fully faired! :D

You’re welcome to have a look/ spin if you’re on the Greenway.

The first photo looks to be at the picnic tables at an old disused train station (don't know it's name)
